The Department of Physical Education and Health was established in 1948. At that time, much has been done for promotion of physical education and sports among students.

Starting from 2014 to the present moment the department manages Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Lyudmyla Dudorova.
The department has six members: two professors, one associate professor and three senior lecturers. Support staff of the department is two laboratory technicians, they perform work connected with providing of the educational process.
Most of them have years of experience in higher education, high educational and personal qualifications.
DUDOROVA Lyudmyla. Head of the Department, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor
She graduated with honors from the Kyiv State Institute of Physical Culture in 1983 (specialization "Physical Culture and Sports") and get the qualification "teacher of physical education, the sport coach." Defended the thesis "Pedagogical conditions of formation needs of a healthy lifestyle of the future teachers in the process of physical education" for the Ph.D degree (Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences) in 2009, specialty 13.00.04 - theory and methods of professional education. Dudorova defended the thesis "Theoretical and methodological bases of formation future teachers readiness for organization the school of tourism" for the degree of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences in 2014, specialty 13.00.04 - theory and methods of professional education. Research and teaching experience is more than 25 years. The author of over 100 scientific and educational works on sports and pedagogical topics, including monographs, training manuals, guidelines, training programs, etc.
KOLUMBET Alexander, Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor
He graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Physical Culture in 1981 (specialization "Physical Culture and Sports") and get the qualification "teacher of physical education, the sport coach." He defended his thesis "The competitive structure cycling technology movements as the basis for their design and improvement" for the Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences degree (Ph. D) in 1987, specialty 13.00.04 - theory and methods of physical training, sports training and therapeutic physical training. Kolumbet defended his thesis "The development of coordination skills of students of higher educational institutions in physical education" for the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences degree in 2015, specialty 13.00.02 - theory and methods of teaching (physical education, basics of health). Research and teaching experience – over 30 years. He has the distinction of USSR State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports and the International Olympic Committee Certificate for contribution to the specialists training for the direction. Kolumbet A. is a leading specialist in the theory and methodology of development of coordination skills, theory and methodology of sports training, biomechanics of cycling and maintenance of sports facilities. The author of over 155 scientific publications, including monographs, 11 teaching aids, 13 methodical recommendations and two patents of Ukraine.
BAZYLIUK Tatiana, Associate Professor, PhD (Physical Education and Sports)
She graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk State Institute of Physical Culture in 1989, specialization "Physical Culture and Sports". Defended the thesis "An innovative aquatic fitness technology with elements of basketball for physical education of students" for the Ph.D. degree (Candidate of Physical Education and Sport) in 2014, specialty 24.00.02 - physical culture, physical education of different population groups. Teaching experience is more than 20 years. Master of Sport of the USSR in swimming. Bazyliuk T. is one of the leading experts of Ukraine in the theory and methodology of swimming training. The author of over 25 scientific and methodical works on the theory and methodology of sports training and athletic-health orientation scientific papers. She is responsible for research work of students at the Department of Physical Education and Health.
CHERNOVSKY Sergiy, Senior Lecturer
He graduated from the Kharkov State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport in 1992, specialization "Football Coach." He has more than 20 years of scientific and pedagogical experience. He has scientific and methodical works on improving physical education and development of physical qualities of university students through football methods. He is the leading specialist of the Students Football League of Ukraine, a member of the executive committee of the Kyiv Students Football Association. The coach of the KNUTD football team "Legprom", which is a bronze medalist in a football competition among universities of Ukraine. Chernovsky is a responsible person for sports mass works on the Faculty of Design. A member of the trade union committee of the KNUTD. Head of the Commission of Physical and Spiritual Development. Research work topic: "The formation of the basic motor skills in young people and students through football methods."
NYCHYPORENKO Igor, Senior Lecturer
Graduated from the Kyiv State University of Physical Culture and Sports in 1994, specialization «Teacher of Physical Education, Football Coach." He has more than 20 years of scientific and pedagogical experience and more than 15 methodical materials about physical education students and recreation physical training. He is the leading futsal (mini-football) specialist and a responsible person for sports mass works on the Faculty of TSM. In addition, he is responsible for the educational work of the Department of Physical Education and Health. The coach of the futsal team (men and women).
BUT Konstantin, Senior Lecturer
Graduated from the Ukrainian National Pedagogical Dragomanov University in 1992. He has more than 10 years of scientific and pedagogical experience. But has over 10 articles and guidelines in the field of person’s power quality. The powerlifting coach and instructor in the gym.

Students of KNUTD are the best athletes
1. Kostevych Olena - Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine in shooting. Olympic Games, World and Europe champion.
2. Sergienko Natalia - Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine in table tennis, Deaflympics, World, Europe and the Universiade champion.
3. Ostapenko Pavlo - International Master of Sports of Ukraine, silver medalist of the Youth World Championship and bronze medalist of European Youth Championship in beach volleyball, player of the Superleague team "Locomotive".
4. Kholod Georgii - Master of sports of Ukraine in fencing. The Universiade of Ukraine champion.
5. Gladskyh Oleksii - Master of Sports of Ukraine in Greco-Roman wrestling. The Universiade of Ukraine champion.
6. Kostashenko Anastasia – Candidate for Master of Sports of Ukraine in athletics, a member of the Ukraine National Youth Team and a high achiever student.
7. Mariana Stoianovic - International Master of Sports of Ukraine in judo and sumo. Silver medalist of the Youth European Championship.
8. Goncharenko Bogdan - International Master of Sports of Ukraine in karate. Multiple champion of Ukraine, Europe and the World.
The physical training is one of the most effective methods among various means of improving efficiency, reducing fatigue and preventing of deviations in the health.
In our university, physical education and sports hold a prominent place. The program of physical education of students has the general physical fitness section and the professionally applied physical preparation section. Physical education covered almost all students. There are different classes according to types of specialization: football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, rhythmic gymnastics and athletics. Classes are offered both practical and theoretical approach with regard to the individual involved.

Sports team of the KNUTD is the regular participant of Pechersk district Sports Games "Under golden domes of Pechersk" and "The Health Games of Pechersk district" in the 12 sports. The team is a multiple champion of "The Health Games of Pechersk district".
Stable and high rates among playing teams are shown by volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis and bullet shooting teams.
Teaching staff of the department pays great attention to the educational and methodological support of the learning process. The department produced many scientific developments on the organization of theoretical and practical training of students, their independent work.
Sinse 1958 the university sports camp “Molodizhniy” is operate in village Plyuty. Every year in the camp (summer and winter), there are competitions of various sports, hiking and other sports activities.

Football team "Lehkprom" of the KNUTD maintains relations with the Polish student teams, which took part in the tournament "Students Euro-2012" in Kiev. The tournament involved teams:
1. Silesia Polytechnic, Gliwice;
2. Yahelonski University, Krakow;
3. University of Silesia, Katowice;
4. Adam Mitskewicz University, Poznan.
Also, the department maintains relations with the Private University of Environmental Sciences, Poland, Radom city.
