History of the Department

The origins of this process is the late 60-ies of the last century, when initiated by the Department of Automation at Institute (Kyiv Technological Institute of Light Industry) technology center was founded. Graduate of the department Saginashvili O.S, has become by the head of center, who is the director nowadays. At first hardware of center consisted of electronic computers "Peace" and "Nairi".

In 1972, for wider using of computers in teaching and conducting research projects from employees of the Department of Automation, a group of young, prospective teachers stand out, which, according to the order of Education Ministry of Ukraine, Department of Computer Engineering and Applied Mathematics was formed. Professor, State Prize Laureate L.H.Shatihin (Pic 1) led the newly created Department. In that time at the department worked: V.I Burik, B.P Dromenko, S.B Degtiariov, I.S Volodin, T.I. Asistova, A.L Polianychko, M.G Moiseieva, Y.O Shakola.

Since 1978, head of the department appointed Сandidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Ratushnyi (Pic 2). All the time the work for escalating computing power of department is performed. EC type machines are appearing. The department is working constantly to attract young professionals to teach.

Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Ivanchenko G.F (before that he was Head of Studies and Acting Head of Department) began to teach in the department.

In 1984, the department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Hyliuk L.F, who worked at the Central Research Institute of integrated water resources with candidate of physics and mathematics sciences Krasnytskyi S.M

In 1991 S.M Krasnytskyi was chosen as the head of the Department of Computer Engineering and Applied Mathematics (Pic. 3). In 1992, under his leadership new specialty was opened - "The systems of Aided Design", which in 1994 was renamed as "Information Technologies of Design". There were only 10 personal computers in the department’s computer lab.

It should be noted that since 1992 was started cooperation the department of computer engineering and applied mathematics with other producing departments. Especially there was close cooperation with the departments of technology and design sewing products and leather products. This integration effort groups had significantly raised the level coursework and graduation projects through the use of modern information technologies. This cooperation continues to develop today.

In 1998, there was structural reorganization of the Department of Computer Engineering and Applied Mathematics. At its base formed two departments: information technologies of design and informatics. The first department was headed by Doctor of Technical sciences Kryvyi S.L (Pic 4), and the second was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Savenkov A.I. After that informatics department, which moved to the Faculty of process equipment and control systems, was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor S.V. Beliaiev.

The Department of Information Technology of Design entered to the structure of Faculty of Technology of light industry. By the faculty of the department included such recognized experts in the field of information technology of design as Professor Krasnytskyi S.M, Associate Professor Shramchenko B.L., Associate Professor Yahno V.M, Associate Professor Chuprynka V.I, Associate Professor Reznikov S.A, Associate Professor Opanasenko V.M, Associate Professor Morohovets M.K, senior teacher Briuhovych A.E, candidate of physics and mathematics sciences A.V. Pokrovskyi, senior teacher Kolysko O.Z, senior teacher Chumak O.O, senior teacher Bondarenko N.A, assistant Rezanova V.G, teacher Sinitsyn I.V, Head of Laboratory Dolgopol L.K, Head of Laboratory Trishkin Y.O

There was opened a new computer lab at the department of information technology of design. It was included 20 personal computers which were combined into a local computer network such as "client-server".

In 2000, the Department of Information Technology of Design was leaded by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the International Academy of Computer Sciences and Systems Scherban V.Y. (Pic. 5). In that days, at the department there was created the second computer lab for 20 workstations, equipped with modern computers and licensed software. The department was accredited to IV level by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and took opportunity for training Masters in specialty – information technology of design.

At the department there were involved experienced professionals and young teachers, who proved themselves very well: Associate Professor Pinchuk A.V, Associate Professor Khomenko L.V, assistant Fedotova L.L., assistant Bura.V.V, assistant Latushko A.A, assistant Chebaniuk O.V, senior engineer Yaroshevskyi V.M.

The Department continues active cooperation with the Institute of Cybernetics and Institute of Mathematics of Ukraine. It was actively involved as part of the International Academy of Computer Science and Systems, in the design of qualification tests and control tests in the direction of computer sciences.

Due to the development of a global computer network Internet, Department started to create its own WEB-site to improve representation of University. This work became a logical continuation of the annual competitions of WEB-pages, which were held at the department.

Research

At the department of Information Technology of Design, which under the direction of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Scherban.V.Y, there is work aimed at developing CAD equipment and technical processes of light and textile industry, which is the part of scientist direction "Advanced IT consumer goods." The results of the conducted research were published 6 monographs, 4 manuals, more than 250 articles and report’s thesis in scientific publications, 6 patents of Ukraine.

One of the most important aspects of student’s research of the Department of Information Technology of Design is participation in organization the annual exhibition-competition for development of WEB-pages on the subject of the department, faculty and university. Such annual exhibition-competitions have become traditional and got much appreciated. In this performance, under the control of teachers of the Department, was attended by more than 100 students. A characteristic feature is that every year their numbers increased and updated.

In addition, students and staff of the Department of Information Technology of Design upon request of other university departments, provide technical and methodological assistance in the use of modern information technologies in scientific and educational activities. It may be noted close links with the Departments of Technology and Design Garments (Head of Department, Prof. Bereznenko S.M), Design and Technology of Leather (Head of Department, Prof. Konoval V.P) and the Department of Chemistry and Electrochemical Chemistry (Head of Department, prof. Barsukov V.Z).

Within cooperation with International Academy of Computer Science and Systems under the direction of Academician Scherban.V.Y, at the Department of Information Technology of Design on behalf of the Presidium of the Academy, there is lead work for development of complex tasks for International Olympiads in the direction "Informatics and Information Technology."

The Department of Information Technology of Design has signed agreements of scientific and technical cooperation with the Institute of Cybernetics and Institute of Mathematics of NAS of Ukraine. In accordance with agreements of scientific and technical cooperation, staff of the department of Information Technology of design, participated in the organization of the Institute of Cybernetics of Ukraine international conference which focused on the development of national electronic computers.

At the Department there is a postgraduate school, 2 postgraduates and 5 researchers. Professors of the Department participate in the 3 Specialized Scientific Councils.

Scientific cooperation  

The Department of Information Technology of Design has signed agreements of scientific and technical cooperation with the Institute of Cybernetics and Institute of Mathematics of NAS of Ukraine. In accordance with agreements of scientific and technical cooperation, staff of the department of Information Technology of Design, participated in the organization of the Institute of Cybernetics of Ukraine international conference which focused on the development of national electronic computers.

Teaching staff

The department has 16 teachers, including 4 professors (3 Doctors of Technical Sciences, 1 Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Sciences), and 8 Associate Professors (Candidates of Technical Sciences).

Basic scientific specialty: Machines and devices of light industry. The technology of textile materials. He teaches disciplins: Fundamentals of System Analysis objects and processes of computerization, mathematical modeling CAD. Scientific direction: Advanced IT FMCG. Mathematical modeling of system in light industry.

 

KRASNYTSKYI Sergii Myhailovych, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Sciences, Professor.

Basic scientific specialty: Probability theory and functional analysis. Probability and Mathematical Statistics. He teaches disciplines: Probability theory and probabilistic processes in light industry, Elements of Functional Analysis, Forecasting technological processes in light industry. Scientific direction: Questions of Mathematical Statistics in the study of the processes of light industry.

 

OPANASENKO Volodymyr Mykolaiovych, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor.

She teaches such disciplines as: Informatics and Computer Science, Information Technology management and design, systems and parallel computing technology distribution. Scientific direction: The measuring and computing equipment in industrial processes or computer tools and systems.

 

Students

Currently the Department "Information Technology of Design" has 385 full-time students and 92 extramural students.

Students of the Department are actively involved in solving complex technical problems, because scientific activity promotes deep mastery of specialty. From the 2nd year they Accept an active participant in the Scientific research work of the Department. Students prepare summaries, make reports for student academic seminars and conferences of young scientists and students.

Every year in February and March 3-5 year students at the Department there is conducted high school tour of Ukrainian Olympiad of professional disciplines, which only in the last year was attended by over 50 students.

Every year students take an active participant in the Ukrainian conference of young scientists and students, which conduct in April in KNUTD, subsection is "Information Technology of Design". In the last 3 years they made 83 reports, published 75 abstracts.

Talented students of the Department are able to participate in the annual competition of scientific works and Olympiads of professional discipline and get awards and prizes.

In 2010, Student Usykova V. of IT1-06 group with the report "Programming and mathematics software for automatically cutting materials for rectangular shape on the details of complex configuration" took the 2nd place in the competition of scientific works "CAD in engineering" (supervisor, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Chuprynka.V.I).

In 2011, student Kazakutsa B. took 2nd place in the Olympiad "CAD in engineering".

У 2011, student Makarov C. of IT1-07 group took 2nd place in the competition of scientific works "CAD in engineering" (supervisor, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Chuprynka.V.I).

У 2012 students of Chuprynka N. and A. Pasulko group took 2nd place in the competition of scientific works "CAD in engineering" (supervisor, Professor, Doctor of Technical sciences Chuprynka.V.I).

In 2013, student of BIT2-11 group, Kharchuk M. took 1st place in correspondence round of competition in “CAD engineering."

Also one of the important aspects of students’ scientific-research work of ITP department is participant in organizing and conducting the annual exhibition-competition for the development of WEB-pages on the subject of the department, faculty and university. In this work under control of lecturers of the department involved more than 30 students. Winners of the competition became winners of international competitions and festivals of WEB-design and advertising in the Internet.

On behalf of University Management, ITD Department is leading to the development of WEB site Kyiv National University of Technology and Design, WEB-page of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

Possibilities for students

Graduates of this specialty can do the job of developing and operating software for CAD, not only in light manufacturing, but also in other industries, like national Economy and businesses, which require deep knowledge of computer hardware and technology. Students who want continue their education can enter to graduate school in University and Institute of Cybernetics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Graduates are prepared to solve professional problems, including:

mathematical training and preparation of theoretical, methodological and algorithmic foundations of information technology for the use of mathematical tools in solving practical and scientific problems in information systems and technologies;

training in programming, possession algorithmic thinking, methods of software engineering, to implement software to meet the requirements for quality, reliability, production characteristics.

Graduates get specialized and professional competence:

knowledge of the principles, methods and algorithms of computer graphics, the ability to apply them in the development of graphical interfaces human-computer interaction;

knowledge of the theoretical and practical foundations of system analysis methodology for the research of complex interdisciplinary problems of different nature, methods of formalization systemic problems that have conflicting objectives, risks and uncertainties;

knowledge of the theoretical and practical foundations and methodology of modeling technology in the research, design and exploitation of information systems, products, services, information technology; ability to implement algorithms of modeling to research the characteristics and condition of complex objects;

knowledge of the concepts of data accommodation, operation analytical processing of them and mining; ability to detect previously unknown in these knowledge necessary for making decision in various realms of professional practice;

knowledge of methodology aided design of complex objects and systems, the ability to use modern computer technology to their system, functional, design and technological design;

knowledge of the theoretical foundations of IT projects RMBOK standards and principles of teamwork; teamwork and ability to apply project management software systems;

knowledge of organizational, technical, and other algorithmic methods and ways for information protection; ability to apply it in the professional practice;

knowledge of the architecture of computer networks, the ability to apply them in justification process of technical software of  information Systems.

International cooperation

Within cooperation with the International Academy of Computer Science and Systems under the leadership of Academician V.Y.Scherban, on behalf of the Presidium of the Academy, in the Department there is implement the development of complex problems for international competitions in the direction of "Computer Science and Information Technology."

The department operates scientific school headed by professor Scherban V.Y. The school has close links with the Ivanovo Textile Institute, Kostroma Technological Institute (Russia). The main directions of scientific process of the school are: mathematical modeling of technological processes and equipment of light and textile industry, improving technological processes of light and textile industries, the development of CAD technological processes and equipment of light and textile industry.
