International cooperation contributes to the integration of the University to the world’s educational process, reforming the activity of the University and covers both the educational process and organization of scientific research, transfer of technologies, contributes to the University innovative development, harmonization of national system of higher education with European one, increasing the quality of preparing competent specialists, extending the autonomy of subdivisions of the University. High quality of foreign students training forms international image of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and strengthens its position at international market of educational services.
In Ukraine now there is a need for specialists and scientific workers who have not only basic theoretical knowledge but also international practical experience. That’s why the development of international activity of the University is an integral part of a successful European image of the University.
The important direction of international cooperation is KNUTD membership in international educational and manufacturing associations. The University is the member of 5 international communities of Universities, such as:
- European Universities Association (EUA)( since 2005, 861 members from 46 countries). It is the Association of European Universities that are engaged in training and scientific research, national associations of rectors and other organizations of higher education and science;
- Association of Universities of textile specialization (AUTEX) (since 2005)- 32 members from 24 countries. It is the Association of Universities that have international reputation in providing higher education and conducting scientific research in the field of textile;
- International federation of knitwear technologists (since 2009) – 286 individual members and organizations from 22 countries – these are educational establishments and industrial organizations in the field of knitted wear;
- European network of enterprises supporting “EEN- Enterprise Europe Network” (since 2011) – 600 organizations that are part of 250 consortiums from 40 countries including 27 countries of European Union (9 members from Ukraine);
- Ukrainian and Russian network of technologies transfer.
Due to the membership in the given associations the University possesses information concerning development, trends and political issues, connected with the development of European higher education and research; methods of providing Bologna process; possibilities to take part in scientific conferences, educational seminars and projects; possibilities of promoting University achievements at European and global level; current state and development of textile branch in Europe and in the world.
During 2004 the University fulfilled the agreement terms with 28 foreign high educational organizations as for cooperation in the field of educational and scientific activity.
Last year the University closely worked with the ambassadors of Poland, Azerbaijan Republic, Moldova, Iran, Vietnam and Libya. A great number of negotiations, meetings and other events were performed at University level.
During 2014 KNUTD had delegations from Germany, Poland, Azerbaijan Republic, Byelorussia, Bangladesh, Iran, Jordan, Ecuador, China, Congo, Lithuania, Moldova, Morocco, Syria, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Libya in order to establish scientific, educational and business contacts with foreign Universities.
Among the foreign delegations visits in KNUTD, there were:
20.02-01.03.2014 – visit of Chen Tsin, director of Foreign Training Centre of Beijin University of Technologies and Business. They discussed the training program for students from China.
04.06.2014-06.02.2014 - visit of the delegation from Spain (Karlos Garcia Los, artist and sculptor). The terms for implementation of the international cultural and educational project “Abstracciones encontradas” in KNUTD were discussed.
03.03.2014-09.03.2014 – visit of the delegation from Poland with the following members: Professor Pavel Chernetskiy, the rector of the Higher School of Management in Warsaw and Bartolomey Novachynskiy, the deputy rector of the Higher School of Management in Warsaw. During the meeting they discussed the issues concerning establishing of Ukrainian and Polish educational centre.
05.03.2014-07.04.2014 – visit of Chen Tsin, the director of Foreign Training Centre of Beijing University of Technologies and Business. They discussed the English training program for the students from China.
19.05.2014-24.05.2014 – visit of members of XIV International contest of young designers (designers of the costume “Pecherski kashtany”) from Russian Federation.
14.05.2014 – visit of Iskander Gasanaga ogly Zamanov, Vice President of All-Ukrainian Azerbaijanian Youth Organization. Issues concerning establishing of Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian cultural and educational centre in KNUTD were discussed.

As a result of the expansion of international relations of the University, in 2014 the International final conference on the competition "Science Debut –2014 – Constant Development" was held at the Higher School of Management in Warsaw. The delegation from Ukraine included representatives from many higher educational establishments and a student of the Faculty of Economics and Business of KNUTD, who won a prize in this project.

According to the results of the meetings, held in 2014, the University continues and develops educational programs:
• the "Double degree" program is based on obtaining diplomas of both Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and the Higher School of Management in Warsaw simultaneously;
• the programs of academic mobility of students and teachers;
• the program of foreign citizens training in English.
A vivid demonstration of the friendly relations between Ukraine, Poland and Azerbaijan was the opening of two centres at the University: Ukrainian-Polish training centre and Azerbaijani-Ukrainian cultural and educational centre.
Specialists training for foreign countries
Training of foreign citizens at the University began in 1948, during 65 years of foreign students teaching the University has prepared more than 1777 professionals from 71 countries of the world.
During the 2014-2015 academic years KNUTD trained 264 foreign students from 16 countries. Students are trained at 5 faculties. The distribution of students by faculties: the Faculty of Economics and Business – 203 students; the Faculty of design – 33 students; the Faculty of Mechatronics and computer systems – 13 students; the Faculty of technologies, service and fashion - 4 students ; the Faculty of chemical and biopharmaceutical technologies - 11 students; the Pre-University training Department for foreign citizens - 11 students.
The training of foreign citizens at the University is conducted in two languages. The Ukrainian language is at the faculties, where foreign students study in groups with Ukrainian students; the Russian language - at the faculties with special groups for foreigners. The staff of KNUTD Training center of the international cooperation provides a learning process and facilities for foreign students staying in Ukraine with the help of computerized programs: The Unified State Electronic Database on Education and E-enter, Financial management System, Modular environment of KNUTD, the "International activities" program of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, “the log book of invitations to study in Ukraine” by Ukrainian State Center of International Education, the specialized database program of the State Migration Service of Ukraine, educational center of international links cooperates with Ministry of education and science of Ukraine, Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ukrainian state center of international education, the State migration service of Ukraine, Ministry of internal Affairs of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, insurance companies that provide medical care, organizations providing attraction of foreign students and Embassies.
According to KNUTD report on the implementation of the Concept of the state migration policy concerning distribution of information about the features of the national culture, customs, traditions among foreigners and stateless people and the development of democracy in the Ukrainian society, the foreign students of KNUTD participated in more than 40 events. In the framework of the third international song festival among creative youth and students, "DOLYA", “Fate with Ukraine" was held the festival for the participants from abroad. Among the participants of the action "Fate with Ukraine "there were the foreign students of KNUTD, who sang the popular song "Chervona Ruta" and won a prize in the final.
With the aim of improving the informing activity about the educational potential of the University and to attract prospective students from other countries, there were prepared advertising and promotional materials aimed at attracting foreign students to study at KNUTD:
• Advertising block in "Higher education in Ukraine in 2014" English directory (printed edition and CD-ROM).
