According to the results of scientific research over the past three years, employees of the Department published more than 130 scientific articles in scientific journals, obtained more than 10 patents, and over 270 reports for conferences.

The research work of teachers of the department is performed by the priority field of the development of science and technology "Cultural studies, aesthetics, structural and functional problems of design in the context of ethnic culture, ecology and man`s life support systems" (scientific supervisor Prof. M. Kolosnichenko) that, in particular, includes the main divisions of scientific activity of the department:

  • theoretical and practical basics of creating a special, industrial, uniform, sportswear with predicted ergonomic characteristics and processes of the rational use of materials (scientific supervisor - D.Sc. in engineering, professor M. Kolosnichenko);
  • theoretical and practical bases of methodology of the development of dimensional typology of the population of Ukraine and systems for manikins (scientific supervisor PhD in Engineering, Prof. L. Zubkova);
  • methods and tools of modern designing objects that define their aesthetic, socio-cultural, ergonomic, functional, operational and environmental characteristics (supervisor - D.Sc. in engineering, Assoc. Pashkevych).

The results of the scientific work “Creation of competitive special protective clothing” was taken as a basis of the National standard of Ukraine "Fireman clothes - protective. General technical requirements and test methods". The scientific staff of the laboratory improved methods of evaluation of thermal insulation properties of the packages of clothing, made the original device and proposed methods for determining thermal characteristics of materials and packages, as evidenced by the patents of Ukraine for inventions.

Developed varieties of thermal protective clothes are repeatedly demonstrated in exhibitions at international and national levels.

The research results of the developed thermal protective sets are confirmed by acts of implementation, specifications, patents of Ukraine for design solutions. Our solutions are embedded in the fire departments of the Ministry of Emergency of Ukraine, oil and gas industry and rescuers during liquidation of accidents in underground mines, etc.

The team under the leadership of Prof., Kolosnichenko M. conducted research and implemented results in the production in accordance with contract No. 548 dated 20.05.2008, on the theme "Development of technical specifications for Merkuriy fire protective clothing".
