History

Department of Economics has been functioning since 2004. From 2004 till 2014 the head of the Department was Svitlana G. Natroshvili – PhD in Economics, Associate Professor. Since 2014 the head of the Department is Veniamin V. Melnyk. On November 3, 2017 the Department of Economics became a branch of the Department of Business Economics of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the KNUTD, headed by Alyona O. Melnyk, Doctor of Economics, Professor.

Aim of the program:

To provide economic education in the field of Economics of Enterprise with broad access to employment and further education. To form and develop students’ competences in Economics and Entrepreneurship to ensure various employment opportunities aimed at obtaining economic knowledge by a student.

Learning outcomes:

Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

Basic economic principles and laws;

Fundamentals of economic management of  organizations, enterprises and institutions;

Statistical methods of collecting and processing economic information;

Econometric modeling techniques for economic and business phenomena;

How to organize operational, planning, economic, financial, accounting, marketing and commercial activity of light industry enterprises;

Forms of labor process, principles of and approaches to the efficient personnel management;

Basics for the regulation of labor, property and partnership relations between economic entities;

 Innovative information systems for the solution of organizational, managerial and economic tasks;

Economic terminology;

Rational search and usage methods of scientific and technical information applying IT methods of collecting and processing information;

Understanding of enterprise business activity problems and ability to solve them;

Professional and qualified managing of the changes in the enterprise performance focused on expected results;

 Directions of improving enterprise organization structure and techniques of identifying and solving problems, developing proposals for  the improvement of technical and economic indicators;

Use of economic analysis, planning and forecasting methods to enable efficient solutions of practical problems in enterprise management;

Data pool, organizing, processing and retrieving information necessary for efficient professional activity;

Complex analysis of socially relevant  problems and processes, facts and phenomena;

Ability to apply elements of economic analysis, economic and mathematic simulation in assessment of enterprise economic performance;

Ability for independent learning, critical assessment of acquired experience and knowledge from the vantage point of the latest economic research and information technologies

 

Research

The major research focus of the Department is “Economy of Industries”. For the last three years the Department members produced 15 monographs, 20 textbooks, more than 180 scientific articles, participated in more than 1080 international and Ukrainian conferences. 3 PhD theses were defended and 2 Department members are writing Doctoral thesis.

The following major research problems are studied by the Department:

  • Transformation of Ukrainian Economy considering market relations
  • Higher education development under the Commercialization conditions
  • Agrarian market under the conditions of transformation of economic systems
  • Enterprise economic security under modern conditions
  • Formation of export potential of the enterprises on the basis of regional infrastructure
  • Enhancing the effectiveness of corporate management at regional level
  • Improving the mechanism of market relations and state regulation methods of enterprises of different patterns of ownership
  • Intensifying attracting foreign investments into regional economy
  • Development and prospects of international cooperation of enterprises and region
  • Improving financial and credit levers in Ukraine’s economic growth
  • Strategy of industrial enterprises development in Cherkasy region

Training is provided with educational and methodological complex in accordance with the standards of disciplines and the provisions about the development of organizational and regulatory documents for the discipline. In the educational process 37 teaching aids and 5 textbooks produced by the department members are used.

Teaching Staff

Training is provided by a highly qualified teaching staff, among them 4 Doctors of Economics, 2 PhD of Economics.

Svitlana G. Natroshvili, Doctor of Economics

1989 – graduated from Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University. In 1995 – defended the thesis “Theory of Peasant Household and its Modern Meaning”. In 2016 – defended Doctoral thesis “Strategy of economic development of higher education institutions under market transformations conditions”, specialty – 08.00.04 Economics and Management of Enterprises (by the types of economic activities).

In 2001 participated in the International Business Orientation within the Netherlands Management Cooperation Program.

In 2016 – completed advanced training courses in Economics and Public Administration Program of the International Institute of Innovations "Science-Education-Development” (Warsaw, Poland)

Professional experience – more than 25 years.

Courses typically taught: “Enterprise Economy”, “Economics and Innovation Activity”, “Production management”, “Providing of innovations”, a supervisor for undergraduate and Masters level works.

The author of more than 100 scientific publications, 4 textbooks and 45 teaching manuals.

 

Ivan M. MYTZENKO, Doctor of Economics, Professor.

1984 – graduated from Kirovograd Institute of Agricultural Engineering. 2005 – defended the thesis “Organizational and economic mechanism of life safety regulation”.

Professional experience – more than 30 years.

The author of more than 170 scientific publications, 5 textbooks, 5 monographs and 1 textbook approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Research interests: global aspects in integration process.

Since 2006 - affiliated with the school.

Yevheniy M. KYRYLYUK, Doctor of Economics, Professor.

In 2005 – defended the thesis “Economic mechanism of Ukrainian agrotrade houses foundation and functioning”. Since 2011 - has been a member of the Department. In 2013 Yevheniy M. Kyrylyuk defended his doctoral thesis “Agricultural market in terms of transformation of economic systems”.

The author of more than 80 scientific publications including 3 monographs, 1 textbook and 1 teaching manual.

Research interests: issues of agrarian relations, pricing, development of agricultural market in terms of transformation of economic systems and its infrastructure provision.

Courses typically taught: “Microeconomics”, Political Economy”, “Macroeconomics”.

Vasyl I. DMYTRENKO, Ph.D., Head of Urban Development and Architecture Department of Cherkasy Regional State Administration, Chief Architect of the region, Honored Architect of Ukraine.

2004 - graduated from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine.

Authored more than 30 articles, 2 textbooks and more than 10 teaching manuals.

Teaching experience – more than 20 years.

Since 2005 – affiliated with our School.

Natalya O. BABINA, PhD in Economics.

2008 – graduated from Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. Specialty – “Enterprise Economy” and got a Master’s degree in Economics. After graduation she worked as an assistant lecturer at the Department of Economics in School of Market, Information and Innovative Technologies of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. 2009 – 2012 – PhD training Program (full-time student) at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. 2014 – defended her thesis “Enterprise economic security management in the post-crisis growth conditions” in specialty 08.00.04 – economics and enterprises management (by the types of economic activity). Since 2014 till now – Associate Professor of the Department.

In 2016 – completed advanced training courses in Economics and Public Administration Program of the International Institute of Innovations "Science-Education-Development” (Warsaw, Poland)

Courses typically taught: “Enterprise information systems and technologies”, “Foreign economic relations”,“Marketing”, “Internal Economic Mechanism”, “Management”.

 

Georgiy R.NATROSHVILI, PhD in Economics.

2008 – graduated from Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. Specialty – “Enterprise Economy” and got a Master’s degree in Economics. After graduation Georgiy R. Natroshvili worked as an assistant lecturer at the Department of Economics in School of Market, Information and Innovative Technologies of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. 2009 – 2012 – PhD training Program (full-time student) at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. 2015 – defended his thesis “Formation of enterprise export potential on the basis of regional infrastructure” in specialty 08.00.04 – economics and enterprises management (by the types of economic activity). Since 2014 – till now – associate professor of the Department.

In 2016 – completed advanced training courses in Economics and Public Administration Program of the International Institute of Innovations "Science-Education-Development” (Warsaw, Poland)

Courses typically taught:. “Project Analysis”, “Enterprise Potential management”, “Enterprise Strategy”.

 

Students

Annually students participate in regional and all-Ukrainian Olympiads, round tables on contemporary economic issues. Students of the Department of Economics participated in various events, one of which was "Stock Market Simulation Game".

Organizers of the championship on internet-trading among the students of higher educational institutions of Ukraine “Stock market Simulation game” expressed gratitude for high performance to the team of the Department under the guidance of Yevheniy M. Kyrylyuk, PhD in Economics, Associate professor. Besides, students participated in Diplomas Contest and 5 of them became the winners. Training is provided through theoretical and practical communication with qualified staff of the Department and scientific and methodological support with innovative learning technologies. There is an individualized approach to each student regarding his personal characteristics. Nowadays effective professional training is guaranteed only by theoretical training ensured by relevant practical skills. Therefore students of the Departments have their field practicum at Cherkasy regional enterprises.

Students have an opportunity to continue their learning for Master’s and PhD degrees in the post-graduate school of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (full-time or part-time). Graduates of the Department of Economics are highly competent professionals whose knowledge meet national and international standards of higher education and allow to work under conditions of integration.

Students Societies

Students of the Department are involved in scientific work through their participation in scientific club “New Paradigm”, holding conferences and workshops. The main goal of the scientific club was to attract talented young people in science, to create conditions for the disclosure of scientific and creative potential of individuals enrolled in department’s programs, to develop their scientific thinking and research skills, to promote innovations.

During the reporting year 17 students were involved in scientific work of the society. They actively worked on research and development of scientific topics of the Department.

Students have an opportunity to publish their scientific conference abstracts in the collections of the conference materials. Every year the department holds the conference “Economic innovations of modern Ukrainian society”. For the reporting year there were 18 students’ publications.

Topicality of the research area of the scientific club is beyond doubt, as placing intelligence and scientific knowledge in the center of the main factors of sustainable economic growth made modern researchers focus their attention on the economic knowledge formation. Today this issue is viewed as a guarantee of progressive movement of the society, innovative development, making competitive economy, meeting ever growing demands of people and strengthening social cohesion.
