History

Due to the restructuring of the Department of Information and Computer Technologies and the Department of Sciences in 2012 the Department of Information Computer Technologies and Sciences was founded. The head of the Department is Mykhailo V. Yarmolenko, Ph D in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor. There are 2 Doctors of Technical Sciences, 4 PhD in Technical Sciences and 5 Senior Instructors at the Department.

Aim of the program:

To form and develop general and professional competences in the field of Informatics and Computing aimed at obtaining of knowledge and skills to solve problems of analysis and synthesis of complex systems on the basis of advanced information technologies and using modern achievements of sciences and engineering.

Learning outcomes:

Ability to demonstrate:
-         Basic knowledge of Philosophy, Psychology, Pedagogy to enhance the level of general culture and socialization of personality with  aesthetic values and ability to apply them in professional and social activity;

-         Basic knowledge of Fundamental and Applied Mathematics and the ability to apply them in their professional activities;

-         Knowledge of Programming principles, Techniques in modern programming languages, basic data sets;

-         Knowledge of computer architecture, ability to apply them in engineering and operation;

-         Knowledge of basics in circuit design for modern computers;

-         Knowledge of Systemic programming peculiarities;

-         Knowledge of systemic software design peculiarities and general principles of organization and functioning of operating systems;

-         Knowledge of automated design techniques, ability to use modern computer tools  and gadgets for systemic, functional and technological design of computer systems and networks (CSN);

-         Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques of design, construction and providing services of modern computer networks of various types and purposes;

-         Knowledge of modern  theories of database organization, methods and techniques of their design and application;

-         Knowledge of organizational, technical, algorithmic and other methods and techniques of CSN information security in accordance with legislation norms and regulations,  standards in the field, with modern cryptosystems and ability to apply them in their professional activity;

-         Knowledge of modern technologies and engineering tools for developing complex software systems (software engineering), ability to apply them at all stages of lifecycle development;

-         Knowledge of life safety issues and labor protection, ability to observe them in professional activity;

- Ability to apply basic knowledge of fundamental and applied mathematics in research and   professional activities;

Ability to apply basic knowledge of information technology standards in design and implementation of information systems and technologies;

-  Ability to use computer tools to design and create hardware and software components of CSN;

- Ability to apply theory of electric and magnetic circuits in designing hardware components of computer systems;

- Ability to apply probability and statistics methods and techniques in analysis and design of hardware and software components of computer systems;

- Competence in applying relevant laws of electronics to solve problems in designing CSN hardware;

- Ability to use modern programming languages for creating software products;

- Ability to apply computation techniques in designing arithmetic and logic devices;

- Ability to design systemic software; to design, set up and use OS for specific purposes; the upgrading of OS components;

- Ability to analyze and design high-performance computer systems  of different structural organization using the principles of parallel and distributed data processing;

- Ability to design, engineer and operate global, local, mobile and other computer networks;

- Ability to design databases of different structural organization and purpose;

- Ability to apply techniques and means of programs and data security in design and operation of CSN;

 - Ability to apply technologies and tools in developing programmed systems;

To provide fundamental theoretical and practical training of highly qualified professionals with profound fundamental knowledge to perform professional tasks and responsibilities of research, design and innovative character in the field of modern computer systems, the ability to independently formulate and solve theoretical  and practical issues in  research and  manufacturing organizations.

Learning outcomes:

Ability to demonstrate  knowledge and understanding of:

-          Principles of structuring high capacity computer systems ;

-          Research methods and design principles of specialized computer systems;

-          Software structure of specialized computer systems;

-          Means and techniques of making  server’s and client’s part of specialized computer systems ;

The major research focus of the Department is 1.2.8.3 ”Development of New Information Technologies on the Basis of Electric, Magnetic and Optical Signals Measuring and Their Temporal and Spatial Analysis”.

Mykhailo V.YARMOLENKO, Ph.D in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor, Head of the Department

1985 – graduated from Cherkasy State Pedagogical Institute, Department of Physics and Mathematics, Specialty “Physics and Mathematics”. 1990 - PhD in Physics and Mathematics from Moscow Metallurgy Research Institute (thesis “Common factors of mutual diffusion and phases growth in alloys under variable fields and temperature stresses”).  Since 1995 –  Associate Professor.

Professional experience – 19 years.

The author of more than 20 scientific publications.

Research interests: solid state reactions in composite, monocrystal, fiber and film materials under the influence of electromagnetic and mechanical fields.

Serhiy O. VORONOV, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor

1973 – graduated from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Specialty “Vacuum devices and elements”. In 1997 Serhiy O. Voronov defended his thesis “Development of the methods for estimation of structural materials degradation and and durability in aggressive environment under sustained static loading”. Since 2004 – Professor.

The author of more than 400 scientific publications.

Research interests: thermal imaging systems with non-destructive testing technology and infrared receivers

Volodymyr H. RYABTSEV, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor

1969 – graduated from Kharkiv Aviation Institute, Specialty – “Automatic Control Systems”. In 2004 – defended the doctoral thesis – “Methods and tools of the automating design of diagnostic maintenance of the Chip-Configurable digital systems with the built-up memory”. Since 2009 – Professor. Since 2009 – the member of the School. The author of more than 150 scientific publications.

Research interests: automated digital design systems, semiconductor memory devices diagnosing, tools for synthesis of verification tests of models of digital systems that contain built-in memory.

Courses typically taught: “Methods and Organization of Research”, “PLD-based computer systems design”.

Eugene V. LANSKY, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor

In 1999 graduated from Cherkasy Engineering and Technological Institute. Specialty – “Computer systems and networks”. In 2003 he defended his thesis “Models and methods of system design of information systems distance learning education”.

Since 2003 -  Associate Professor.

The author of more than 20 scientific publications.

Research interests: distance learning systems, system analysis and design.

Courses typically taught: “Computer Aided Circuit Engineering”, “Digital Signal Processing”.

Volodymyr Y. SHADHYN, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor

In 2004 graduated from Cherkasy State Technological University. Specialty – “Computer systems and networks”. In 2009 Volodymyr Y. Shadhyn defended his thesis “Method of defense programmatic facilities from hidden scanning in the computer systems”. Since 2008 – Senior instructor of the Department.

The author of more than 40 scientific publications including textbooks and reference books.

Research interests: methods and models of distribution of scumware in computer systems.

Courses typically taught: “Computer-aided System Engineering”, “Business Networks Design”.

Maria V. ZAKHAROVA, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor

2001 – graduated from Cherkasy State Technological University. Specialty – “Information Control Systems and Technologies”. In 2010 Maria V. Zakharova defended her thesis

“Synthesis of mechanisms for protection of information resources from cyber attacks”. Since 2007 – senior instructor. The author of more than 20 scientific publications.

Research interests: development and application of cryptography to protect computer systems, modeling of data protection.

Courses typically taught: “Network Software”, “Data Protection in Computer Systems”, “Cryptographic Data Protection Methods”.

Svitlana M. ODOKIENKO, PhD in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor

1994 – graduated from Cherkasy State Technological University. Specialty – “Electronics and Computer Technologies”. In 2007 Svitlana M. Odokienko defended her thesis in specialty 01.05.02 “Mathematical modeling and computational methods”. The author of more than 60 scientific publications.

Research interests: mathematical modeling of dynamic objects and modern distance education technologies.

Courses typically taught: “Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence Systems”, “Automated Accounting and Auditing”, “Computer Systems of Artificial Intelligence”, “Design systems”, “Computer-process Interfaces”.

Svitlana O. GRESKO, Senior Instructor

1989 – graduated from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, specialty "Precision Mechanics". Since 2008 – senior instructor. The author of more than 15 scientific publications.

Research interests: projects LANs optimization, automated control systems and advanced information technologies.

Nataliya L. KOSTYAN, Senior Instructor

1999 – graduated from Cherkasy State Technological University. Specialty – “Computer systems and networks”. In 2015 defended her thesis "Methods and tools for development and implementation of integrated numerical models inverse problems of dynamics”. The author of more than 25 scientific publications.

Research interests: decision support systems analysis.

Courses typically taught: “Programming”, “Neurocomputing Systems”, “Environment of Programs Design”.

Maya V. LYUTA, Senior Instructor

2001 – graduated from Ukrainian State University of Chemical technology. Specialty – “Engineering Technology”. 2011- graduated from The Bohdan Khmelnytsky Nationational University of Cherkasy. Specialty -  “Pedagogics of Higher School”. Since 2011 – senior instructor of the Department. The author of more than 15 scientific publications.

Research interests: coding methods and data processing.

Lyubov O. GOGU, Senior Instructor

1982 – graduated from Cherkasy State Pedagogical Institute named after the 300th Anniversary of the Reunification of Ukraine and Russia. Specialty – “Mathematics and Physics”. Lyubov O. Gogu has been working at the Department since its foundation.

Research interests: decision support systems, evolutionary modeling and Metaheuristics, developing of methodology of creative tasks usage.

Courses typically taught: “Calculus”, “Theory of Probability and Mathematic Statistics”.

Tayisiya M. GORDUNOVSKA, Senior Instructor

1967 - graduated from Cherkasy State Pedagogical Institute named after the 300th Anniversary of the Reunification of Ukraine and Russia. Specialty – “Mathematics”. Tayisiya M. Gordunovska has been working at the Department since its foundation.

Research interests: teaching Sciences in Technological University.

Courses typically taught: “Calculus”, “Theory of Probability and Mathematic Statistics”.

Perspectives for Students

The students who complete their full training course in the Program "Computer Engineering" are highly competitive in the job market. They can work in computer companies, Internet service providers companies, ministries and departments, research and educational institutions, financial institutions of different patterns of ownership and other organizations that use modern computer technologies and control tools, computer systems, corporate networks and electronic multimedia complexes.

Students Societies

Students of the Department affiliate into a research group on “Study of modern information technologies”. The goal of the research group is to develop intellectual potential of a personality. The task of the group is to develop research skills and ability to articulate issues, to develop communication skills and to expand knowledge in IT technologies.

The students of the research group participate in All-Ukrainian and International conferences and Contests (The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest). The result of students’ research work is the publication of their scientific conference abstracts and articles in scientific journals.

The best graduates have the opportunity for further professional growth as a research assistant, research officer, engineer- researcher, graduate associate, assistant. After successful thesis defense they can hold a position of an associate professor and professor.

The Department of Information and Computer Technologies and Sciences has established partnerships not only with numerous higher educational institutions in Ukraine but with Universities and organizations in other countries, notably, in Belarus, Germany, Russia, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Poland.
