STUDENTS OF THE DIGITAL ART EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM INSPIRED BY ART OF MARIIA PRIMACHENKO

On August 25, 2023, students of higher education of the first (bachelor) level of the OPP Digital Art under the leadership of the senior lecturer of the Department of Digital Art of KNUTD, Ulyana Balan, visited the exhibition project at the Ukrainian House National Center "Mary Draws. 100 unknown works of Prymachenko" and got a unique opportunity to see and dive into the real world of art of this outstanding Ukrainian artist.

It is difficult to overestimate the significance of Maria Prymachenko's work. She was a famous artist - a self-taught artist who created bright and fantastic paintings inspired by nature and folk motifs. Her figure is one of the first to be mentioned when it comes to history art of Ukraine and is compared with such world-famous artists as Henri Rousseau and Niko Pirosmani. Exhibitions of her works were held in Paris, Montreal and other parts of the world, her unique style was admired by Picasso, Serhiy Paradzhanov came to her a workshop house in the village of Bolotnia.

For students of the BDA-23 group of the Digital Art education program, visiting an exhibition of her paintings was an important part of art education. During the excursion, the students analyzed the palette of bright open colors, abstract forms, folk symbols, and unexpected images that Maria Prymachenko used in her works. Also, this exhibition was a source of inspiration and ideas for own digital projects, which can reflect elements of Prymachenko's style, but in a new, modern context.

The tour guide of the Ukrainian House National Center Mrs. Viktoriya Boyko helped the students gain a deeper understanding and analyse the work of the artist, shared interesting facts about her life, artistic style and influence on the world of art.

Undoubtedly, the students got unforgettable impressions from the exhibition, deepened their knowledge about understanding our national artistic heritage.
