ROUNDTABLE WITH ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT FROM “MEDIA CENTER” OF THE STATE ENTERPRISE “GENERAL DIRECTORATE FOR SERVICING FOREIGN MISSIONS”

As part of the patriotic and educational event on September 13, 2023, the academic staff and 1st and 2nd-year students of the Department of Information and Computer Technologies, the Faculty of Mechatronics and Computer Technologies at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, were involved in a roundtable discussion on the topic “Israeli Security Experience for Ukraine: Historical and Political-Legal Parallels”.

The event was initiated and organized with the participation of representatives from the Center for Military Legal Studies, the Center for Political Studies “Doctrine”, as well as the organizational support from the “Mediacenter” of the State Enterprise “General Directorate for Servicing Foreign Missions”.

The event was moderated by the head of the Center for Military Legal Studies, Olexandr Musiyenko.

The roundtable discussion brought together representatives of the accredited foreign diplomatic corps in Ukraine and experts from various fields, including:

  • Joseph Asman, Assistant Chief Rabbi of Ukraine and Director of the Jewish Community of Kyiv.
  • Bishop Yefrem (Khomyak), Bishop of Vasylkiv, of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
  • Fedir Venislavskyi, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament (the Verkhovna Rada) and Representative of the President in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
  • Father Andriy Zelinskyi, Advisor to the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) on Communication Strategy and a member of the monastic community “Society of Jesus”.
  • Olexandr Sahan, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Religious Studies Expert, and Publicist.

These individuals contributed to the discussion on the Israeli security experience and its relevance to Ukraine, providing valuable insights and perspectives.

The discussion took place in both offline and online formats, and the following topics were addressed:

  1. The Genocide of the Jewish People (the Holocaust) – a result of a hatred-driven ideology. Manifestations and facts of genocide concerning the Ukrainian people in history, particularly during the full-scale Russian military aggression.
  2. The role of international religious and humanitarian diplomacy in protecting nations affected by genocide and wars. The restoration of security and justice as essential spiritual and humanitarian factors for state coexistence.
  3. Building partnerships with the Free World in the face of extreme external threats – the Israeli and Ukrainian dimensions. Prospects for Israel-Ukraine cooperation in weakening the terrorist vector of the Russian and Iranian regimes.
  4. International experience in punishing and holding accountable for crimes against humanity, which did not serve as a preventive measure against the outbreak of a new war, the commission of war crimes, and genocide.

These topics formed the basis of the discussion, allowing for a comprehensive exploration of issues related to genocide, diplomacy, and international cooperation.

 

At the end of the roundtable discussion, the guests actively posed questions to the experts. The discussion was joined by Olena Kotseruba, the founder of the NGO “Unified Community – Unified Goal” and a journalist; Maryna Shulha, Doctor of Political Sciences, PhD in Philosophy, and professor at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Vira Haponenko, Doctor of Political Sciences and head of the Department of Political Technologies at Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University; and Serhii Borschevsky, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, writer, and translator. Their participation marked a successful and productive conclusion to the event.
