STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FASHION AND STYLE BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE MOVIE "DOVBUSH"

During their studies, students of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education of the educational and professional programs "Modeling, design and artistic decoration of light industry products" and "Design and technology of garments" in addition to professional training, participate in cultural and educational events.

So, on September 19, 2023, students of the Department of Fashion and Style of the groups BSMHK-22, BSMHK-21, BSMHK-20, BSh-21, together with their curators, Alla Rubanka, Yana Mamchenko, Halyna Oliiynyk, Maryna Yatsenko, visited an interactive exhibition of costumes and props from the movie "Dovbush".

The students saw about 30 images of historical costumes and their sketches, props, original story boards, photos from the films, etc. In the center of the exhibition space, they examined the wedding costumes of Oleksa Dovbush and his bride Marichka, behind which mannequins dressed in opryshka clothes were arranged in a circle. Also, the students learned about the history of the clothing of the Polish nobility and winged hussars.

The students examined in detail the unique items and elements of the costumes and noted that certain parts of the clothes do not exist any more. For example, the bride and groom's costumes were completely recreated by craftsmen, who even made ancient fabrics, including self-woven fabric.

The students got acquainted with and examined authentic clothing, its elements, components, design and manufacturing features. In the context of the educational components "Design of garments" and "Design features for various purposes", students learned how the craftsmen of that time made and decorated fasteners, collars, cuffs, etc.

More than a hundred craftsmen made efforts to create the costumes and all the clothes were recreated from sources of the early 18th century with the help of experts.

There was also a large number of bronze and silver items on display. In fact, this is a huge work of re-enactors in terms of military clothing and the rank of knights.

The students who visited the exhibition are full of impressions and positive emotions. They were enriched with new knowledge and expressed their wish to continue learning about the history of the development of costumes at different times.
