On 4 October 2023, students of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting studying under the study programmes Finance, Banking and Insurance, Digital Finance, Financial and Investment Business Consulting, Accounting and Taxation, and International Accounting and Business Consulting visited Mega-Policy Insurance Company and talked to its CEO, Oleksandr Bondar.         

The event was attended by the academic staff of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting, headed by the Head of the Department, Doctor of Economics, Professor Iryna Tarasenko.

Doctor of Economics, Professor Andrii Zolkover and Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor Dmytro Kovalenko took an active part in organising and holding the meeting with the stakeholder.

In his report, Dmytro Kovalenko noted that the insurance market is the second largest segment of the country's financial market, which definitely affects the stability of the financial system, which is an important task in the context of the military aggression launched against Ukraine by Russia.

During the meeting, the head of the insurance company, Oleksandr Bondar, outlined the main directions of development of the Ukrainian insurance market. The speaker used detailed examples to review the current practices of insurance companies and outlined the prospects for the development of insurance services in Ukraine in the context of globalisation and martial law. The speaker reported on the peculiarities of the functioning of the Ukrainian insurance market since the introduction of martial law, the main trends and problems of the insurance market development.

The participants of the meeting were also interested in the presentation of Doctor of Economics, Professor Andriy Zolkover, who drew attention to the problem of developing a comprehensive war risk insurance programme that would allow insurers to provide full insurance coverage and help raise funds for the development of the country.

As a result of the meeting between representatives of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting and Oleksandr Bondar, CEO of Mega-Policy Insurance Company, an agreement was reached on further cooperation, the main areas of which will be: internships for students at the company, research and joint projects. This opens up employment prospects for the best students and the opportunity to become members of the Mega-Policy team.

The useful information received during the discussion will serve as a basis for improving the content and quality of these educational programmes.
