VISIT TO THE TARAS SHEVCHENKO NATIONAL MUSEUM BY FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FASHION AND STYLE

Every year on March 9, Ukraine celebrates a special for Ukrainians date – the birthday of Taras Shevchenko. 210 years have passed since the birth of Great Kobzar, but every word written by the poet is still relevant and echoes in the hearts of Ukrainians.

The bright figure of Taras Shevchenko, with his unconditional love for people and his Motherland, had and will have a huge influence, causing sincere admiration at all times.

Taras Shevchenko was a poet, playwright, prose writer, thinker, historian, ethnographer, and folklorist who left a rich artistic legacy – more than a thousand works.

On the occasion of the anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birthday, on March 15, 2024, students of the educational programs “Styling, Design and Artistic Finishing of Fashion Industry Products” and “Design and Technology of Garments” of Group BSHMK-23, the Department of the Fashion and Style, under the leadership of their curator Tetiana Avramenko, visited the Taras Shevchenko National Museum.

The museum collection consists of unique values and relics. It includes more than 90,000 exhibits. For security reasons, at the time of Russian aggression and martial law, the originals of Shevchenko’s works were replaced by copies.

At the same time, the students had a unique opportunity to “touch” household objects, see engraving tools, used by Taras Shevchenko, and the books he read.

The students were also interested in the interactive exhibition project “Shevchenko: Mosaic of Painting” where Taras Shevchenko’s works were demonstrated via video projections. The exhibition hall is a unique place for reflection on Shevchenko’s works so that everyone who visits the exhibition can form their own opinion about his art.

The students enjoyed spending time in a modern hall with interactive poetry games.

Visiting the Taras Shevchenko National Museum was an inspiring experience, immersion in the richness of Ukrainian culture and history through the great poet’s works, and was of great importance in raising the national and patriotic consciousness of students.
