KNUTD TEAM JOINED THE IX INTERNATIONAL UKRAINIAN ORTHOGRAPHY COMPETITION IN POLAND

On March 15, 2024 a team from Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design joined the IX International Ukrainian Orthography Competition, organized by the Department of Ukrainian Studies at the Institute of Eastern Slavonic Studies of the Jagiellonian University of Krakow.

The team representing KNUTD consisted of PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Philology and Translation Svitlana Dvorianchykova, and two students studying Ukrainian as a foreign language at the department Shamma Arhebamen (4th year student, lecturer – Associate Professor Svitlana Dvorianchykova) and Rena Mehdiyeva (1st year student, lecturer – Associate Professor Oleksandr Muntian).

This year, 53 applicants from 16 countries took part in the competition, namely: Austria, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, the Republic of Korea and the United States of America. Sincere admirers of the Ukrainian language from all over the world competed online for the title of the best expert in Ukrainian spelling, and their mentors were part of the international jury.

Our foreign students gained an interesting experience of communicating in Ukrainian as an international language in the professional community, demonstrated good results and received certificates of participation. Next year, the KNUTD team is planning to visit the Jagiellonian University of Krakow and take part in the X anniversary competition.
