STUDENTS’ EDUCATIONAL PRACTICE AT THE DEPARTMENT OF FASHION AND STYLE

The Department of Fashion and Style is the base of educational practice for students of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education under the educational programs “Design and Technology of Garments” and “Styling, Design and Artistic Finishing of Fashion Industry Products”.

The purpose of educational practice is to stimulate higher education seekers to be creative, develop artistic and spatial thinking, their ability to work in a team, as well as to acquire practical skills in the development of technical documentation and tailoring of garments.

During the performance of the artistic part of the educational practice, the first-year students of Groups BSHMK-23 and BSH-23 made sketches, copies and technical drawings using various graphic and artistic techniques. Also, students made various types of hand stitches, machine stitches, seams of clothing details and samples of knots, consolidating the skills of processing products on universal and special sewing equipment. The students not only performed the assigned tasks but also realized their creative potential in the author’s design of practice reports. The creative performance of the assigned tasks is supported and encouraged by the practice supervisors – PhD, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Fashion and Style Tetiana STRUMINSKA and the assistant of the Department of Fashion and Style Tetiana AVRAMENKO.

   

   

   

 

Traditionally, practical training took place in the Department’s sewing laboratories equipped with mannequins, cutting tables, industrial sewing equipment, ironing and pressing equipment.

As part of the educational practice, students had an opportunity to choose products of various silhouettes and volumetric-spatial forms to be embodied in the material.

The students of Group BSHMK-22(n-23) designed and produced skirts or pants under the guidance of PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion and Style Halyna OLIINYK, and students of Group BSH-22(n-23) under the supervision of PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion and Style Maryna YATSENKO and the assistant of the Department of Fashion and Style Svitlana LOZOVENKO.

The 3rd-year students of Groups BSH-21(sk-23) and BSHMK-21(sk-23) under the supervision of PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Fashion and Style Arseniy ARABULI and assistant of the Department of Fashion and Style Yana MAMCHENKO developed models of the coat and suit assortment, which are the most complex and labour-intensive among garments and require a wide range of professional knowledge and skills.

The educational practice in the sewing laboratories of the Department of Fashion and Style took place in a friendly and professional atmosphere, the students worked actively and persistently, performing the assigned tasks with interest and enthusiasm.

The students showed a creative approach to the selection of models, mastered new knowledge with inspiration, and improved their practical skills in design, modelling, and manufacturing technology of garments accompanied by the mentors-masters Olena KOHUT, Iryna SOKIL, Svitlana BEZSONOVA. The results of educational practice at the Department of Fashion and Style were embodied in the developed project design and technological documentation and ready-made garments.
