SUMMARY OF DESIGN WEEK IN KNUTD

For the first time, KNUTD participated in the largest creative event of the year – Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week (UDIW), which took place from April 1 to 7, 2024 in Kyiv. The Design Week at KNUTD was represented by lectures, master classes, exhibitions of teachers and students, foreign lecturers and partners from Ukraine and the world were involved.

On April 1, 2024, the Design Week at KNUTD was solemnly opened by the Rector of our University, Doctor of Science in Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Ivan Gryshchenko. Ivan Mykhailovych congratulated students and teachers of the Faculty of Design, emphasized the importance of developing educational programs in the specialty 022 Design and improving the quality of design education at the University.

The attendees listened to a lecture by guest professor Luigi Fiumara (Italy/Switzerland) on the topic "Organic Interior Design: Modern Practices", who outlined the main principles of organic environmental design as a modern trend in architecture and design.

On April 2, 2024, the lecture "Modern Environmental Design of General Secondary Education Institutions" by PhD, Head of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design of KNUTD Danylo Kosenko was held. It was attended not only by the teachers and students of KNUTD, but also by partner educational institutions of Ukraine and visitors of the Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week.

On the same day, the teacher of the Department of Multimedia Design, professional photographer Serhiy Lavrusenko held a master class "Photo and Video Production" for all interested students and teachers.

On April 3, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, and Dean of the Faculty of Design Kalyna Pashkevych held a lecture "Development of Clothing Collections: Stages, Sources of Inspiration, Design Practices of World Fashion Houses", which was attended by the students and teachers of the Faculty of Design, Faculty of Arts and Fashion of KNUTD, as well as students and colleagues from various higher education institutions in Ukraine, Moldova, and the Czech Republic.

During the Design Week, the lecture "The Fashion Photography Design" by photo designer Artur Verkhovetskyi (Great Britain) aroused great interest. The students of the Faculty of Design asked the lecturer questions and received comprehensive answers.

On April 4, the Museum of the History of Development of KNUTD opened an exhibition of the student works of the Department of Art and Fashion Design "Ukrainian Costume: Tradition and Modernity", which presents the student works made during industrial practice.

On April 4, the students of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design, together with their teachers, at the invitation of colleagues from Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, visited the virtual reality laboratory of the Faculty of Architecture of KNUCA.

On April 5, the University teachers and students had the opportunity to listen to the lecture "Ukrainian and European Modern and Modernism: Aspects of Mutual Influence" by Oleksandra Kolisnyk, PhD, Professor, Professor of the Department of Graphic Design.

The final event of the Design Week at KNUTD was the participation in the largest Market of Modern Ukrainian Design in the Mystetskyi Arsenal on April 6, 2024. The market brought together leading representatives from various fields of design: industrial design, interior design, graphic design, object design, fashion design, etc.

On the same day (April 6), the Faculty of Design held an Open Doors Day, where visitors, entrants, and their parents, had the opportunity to ask questions about admission, get acquainted with the classrooms, workshops, and laboratories of the Faculty's departments.

It was an eventful, bright week that gave all the participants an opportunity to get professional insights from the experts, acquire a unique communicative experience, and learn relevant information in the field of design!
