HOSPITALITY DAY AT THE FACULTY OF ARTS AND FASHION

Traditionally, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design hospitably opens its doors and heart to all those who are facing the choice of their future life path – the profession.

On April 11, 2024, the Faculty of Arts and Fashion of the University held a Hospitality Day, attended by 11th grade students of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv Gymnasium No. 109 together with their class teacher Tetiana Yevtushenko. The guests were warmly welcomed and greeted on behalf of the Rector of the University Ivan Gryshchenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Nataliia Ostapenko addressed the audience, noting that the University is a well-known higher education institution in Ukraine and abroad, which has been training specialists in various fields for over 94 years, introduced the educational opportunities of the Faculty, and invited them to visit the training and research laboratories and museums.  Tetiana Struminska, Head of the Department of Fashion and Style, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, presented the educational programmes "Modelling, Design and Artistic Decoration of Light Industry Products", "Design and Technology of Garments" in the speciality 182 "Light Industry Technologies", emphasised the demand for graduates in the labour market, and the powerful staff of teachers, many of whom are practice-oriented. In the training laboratory of creative design and innovative technologies for the manufacture of garments, the schoolchildren had an opportunity to see garments made of textiles, fur, knitwear, etc. and got acquainted with the equipment used in the practical training of students.

Among the locations offered by the Faculty on the Hospitality Day, the Museum of Vyshyvanka, which embodies the genetic code of the nation, aroused special interest among the guests. The students got acquainted with interesting exhibits from different regions of Ukraine.

An unforgettable pleasant impression on the visitors was left by the training and research laboratory of 3D anthropometric research of KNUTD, where Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Olha Haranina spoke about the educational programmes "Fashion Industry", "Textile Technologies of Fashion and Interior Space", and "Computer Design in the Fashion Industry". During the meeting, it was emphasised that the purpose of educational and professional programmes at all levels is to provide theoretical and practical opportunities for higher education seekers to master theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the profession at a high level and to expand their potential and acquire competencies. This will contribute to more effective employment and improved research.

It is symbolic that it was in the Mykhailo Voronin Conference Hall that the students watched with interest a video about the history and achievements of KNUTD. As part of the career guidance event, the Head of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor Mariia Bilyanska introduced the students to the educational programmes "Psychology" and "Vocational Education (Technology of Light Industry Products)", which provide training for applicants of different levels of higher education. The 2nd-year students of the speciality "Psychology" demonstrated their practical skills in training activities and conducted a training session on "Professional Aptitudes" with the schoolchildren.

Within two hours, the guests of the Faculty were able to receive useful information and answers to the questions related to the conditions of study, the specifics of the 2024 admission campaign, accommodation in the dormitory, the availability of safe conditions in the educational environment and the full University infrastructure, etc.

We are pleased to note the students’ interest in the opportunity to receive higher education at Kyiv University of Technologies and Design. The Hospitality Day was lively and eventful, and all the participants enjoyed the activities organised by the Departments.
