From 8 to 12 April 2024, the Week of the European Pharmaceutics was successfully held at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, which was organized by the Department of Industrial Pharmacy in connection with the opening of the new educational and professional program (EPP) «Innovative Pharmaceutics» for the first (bachelor`s) level of higher education.
During the Week of the European Pharmaceutics there were open lectures, master classes, presentations, an open day for applicants, meetings with representatives of leading pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine, communication and exchange of innovative and creative ideas to strengthen the interaction between education, industry and science to ensure the continuous development of the pharmaceutical industry in our country. It was an eventful, emotional, dynamic and bright week.
On April 8, 2024, the Week of the European Pharmaceutics was solemnly opened by Tetiana DERKACH, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies. She noted that the Week of the European Pharmaceutics is the first cycle of events within the framework of a large three-week hospitality marathon of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies of KNUTD. Tetiana DERKACH stressed the importance and relevance of such events for all participants: students, applicants, academic staff and stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to see real student life at the Faculty, gain professional insights from experts in the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, gain unique communication experience and receive up-to-date information on modern approaches to teaching higher education students at the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
Volodymyr BESSARABOV, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD, gave a welcome speech. He informed the audience about a series of events that will take place in the Department of Industrial Pharmacy from 8 to 12 April 2024. After the official part, Volodymyr BESSARABOV gave an open lecture on «Biochemistry as a fundamental basis for the development and research of active pharmaceutical ingredients».
The open lecture received favourable feedback from higher education students and academic staff of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies.

On 9 April 2024, the joint project of JSC Farmak and KNUTD «ChemPro 1.0» on «Formation of Special Competencies of a Chemist through the System of Additional Education of Future Employees» was officially completed. Over 4 months, 12 students from three leading Kyiv universities completed a special intensive practical training programme in two training modules: Analytical Chemist and Chromatography Chemist. At the end of the intensive «ChemPro 1.0», the project participants received certificates with attachments confirming the level of knowledge they had acquired. However, we believe that the most important thing is that during the course all students gained valuable knowledge and real practical experience in the pharmaceutical industry, which they now use in their daily work, as 8 graduates of the project are already employed at «Farmak».

On 10 April 2024, the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD hosted the grand opening and presentation of the website of the new educational and professional programme «Innovative Pharmaceutics» for the first (bachelor's) level of higher education. The training of higher education students under this programme will begin in August 2024.
Taking into account the experience of foreign universities with educational programmes, we were the first in Ukraine to launch a separate website specifically for the new educational and professional programme «Innovative Pharmaceutics». By visiting the website developed by us, applicants, their parents and students will receive answers to all their questions about studying at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design under the programme "Innovative Pharmaceutics". On 11 April 2024, within the framework of the Week of the European Pharmaceutics, the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD held a meeting with stakeholders to discuss the new educational and professional programme «Innovative Pharmaceutics» for the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education. During the meeting, academic staff, employers from various departments of leading pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine and graduates of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy discussed the structure of the EPP, the content of the educational components and the learning outcomes of the programme. Stakeholders noted the importance of introducing such an innovative EPP into the educational process, as it takes into account modern labour market demands, is based on employers' recommendations and the latest achievements of the pharmaceutical industry.
At the Department of Industrial Pharmacy at KNUTD, we aim to train professionals who are able not only to adapt quickly to the challenges of the pharmaceutical industry, but also to positively influence its development and progress by offering innovative solutions to the problems of development, research and production of medicines.

On April 12, 2024, the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD hosted the final event of the European Pharmaceutical Week - the Open Day with the master class «Kyiv Open Lab "Innovative Pharmaceutics"». The event was attended by 11th grade students of Pechersk Gymnasium №75 and their teachers, 3rd and 4th year students of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD, research and teaching staff of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies and representatives of leading pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine.
The event began with a welcoming speech by Liudmyla HANUSHCHAK-YEFIMENKO, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of KNUTD, who noted in her speech that Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design has all the necessary conditions for training highly qualified and competitive specialists both in the national and international labor markets. While studying at KNUTD, students have every opportunity to fully realise themselves, to grow professionally and creatively. Liudmyla HANUSHCHAK-YEFIMENKO wished all the participants of the event productive cooperation, warm atmosphere and pleasant impressions from the meeting.
Next, the invited guests were greeted by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Dean of Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies Tetiana DERKACH and Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD Volodymyr BESSARABOV.
Then, experts from Farmak JSC, Arterium Corporation and Biotestlab LLC made extremely interesting presentations on the employment prospects at these companies. The most active and attentive participants of the meeting received useful gifts from representatives of pharmaceutical companies.
The event ended with a master class «Kyiv Open Lab "Innovative Pharmaceuticals"» at the Educational and Research Laboratory of Molecular Pharmacology, Chemogenomics and Biogerontology (MPCB Laboratory). Laboratory employees - postgraduate students Vadym LYSOVYI and Viktoriia LYZHNIUK under the guidance of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Scientific Director of the MPCB Laboratory Volodymyr BESSARABOV and Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Galina KUZMINA - organized an interesting and informative master class program, during which students of the 11th grade of Pechersk Gymnasium №75 made their first tablets and capsules, conducted research to determine the pharmacological and technological characteristics of these dosage forms, and prepared a vitaminised sweet product.
