Participation of KNUTD in Cumulus General Assembly

Cumulus, the world’s leading association for art and design education and research, brings together 357 member institutions in 66 countries to share knowledge and best practices and enhances the positive role of designers and artists in creating a sustainable and humane future for all.

Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design is the only educational institution in Ukraine that has been a full member of Cumulus since 2021 and is participating in the General Assembly for the second year in a row.

On June 16, 2022, the regular Cumulus General Assembly was held online, where the main strategic goals recommended by the President and the Executive Board and the annual budget of the association were approved and new institutional members were elected.

After 30 years of continuous growth and success as an unregistered association under the legal framework of the founding institution, Aalto University, Cumulus has become a legally registered association in Finland. As a registered association, Cumulus will continue to fulfill its mission: to be a dynamic forum for the exchange of knowledge and best practices, as well as a strong supporter of the positive role of designers and artists in shaping a better world.

Also, at the General Assembly, Cumulus was elected by a presidential vote and an executive board for 2022-2025. Cumulus congratulated its new President Lorenzo Imbezi, PhD, Professor and Director of Design Research at the University of Sapienza, Rome, Italy.

Cumulus Association responded to the beginning of the war in Ukraine not only with letters of support but also with concrete actions. As a global family committed to the Charter and values of the United Nations that support dialogue, diversity, and global participation, Cumulus has supported all member institutions and partner organizations around the world that have responded to the tragedy in Ukraine with solidarity.

In difficult times for our country, our Cumulus partners offer support to Ukrainian design students, who are forced to stay abroad in different countries (Germany, Estonia, Sweden, Italy, the Czech Republic, etc.). The link to the page with information about the possibilities of academic mobility for Ukrainian students is here.

By a decision of Cumulus Association in connection with the martial law in our country, KNUTD was exempted from paying the annual registration fee, relations with the members of Cumulus from the aggressor state were suspended and all previously planned activities were canceled.
