The rector noted that for the first time Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was visited by an outstanding political figure of our country, the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov. Ivan Hryshchenko, on behalf of the University staff, thanked him for his significant personal contribution to the strengthening of statehood and the consolidation of Ukrainian society, the political, socio-economic, and cultural development of Ukraine, the patriotic and educational education of youth, and the promotion of the Ukrainian people’s desire for freedom, spiritual unity, and faith in the victory. Also, in memory of this meeting, Ivan Hryshchenko presented Refat Chubarov with a tribute rifle embroidered by the students with a portrait of the great Ukrainian philosopher Hryhoriy Skovoroda, whose 300th birthday is being celebrated in Ukraine these days.

In his further speech, the rector reported on how the University is functioning in the difficult times of the full-scale war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, about the problems and challenges faced by the teaching staff and students. He emphasized that despite everything, the University is working, fulfilling its main mission – the training of highly qualified personnel. Students study offline, acquiring new knowledge and competencies. The University made significant structural changes, optimizing some departments. At the same time, new ones were created, in particular, the International Institute of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies, which does not yet exist in any institution of higher education, and where about 200 postgraduate students from Ukraine and other countries of the world are studying. In addition, despite the war, the University managed to maintain the number of students, recruiting them at the level of the previous year, maintaining the teaching staff, and providing the material and technical base and salaries of the employees. In addition, the functioning of the Kyiv Institute at the Qilu University of Technology in China, to which KNUTD exports educational services, is important for the stable financial condition of the University. The rector emphasized the important tasks and ways of further development of the University in the conditions of martial law and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Refat Chubarov, addressed the participants and guests of the conference with sincere greetings.

In his speech, he especially emphasized that there cannot be an effective economy where there is no democracy and freedom of speech, where there is a dictatorship, and the state will undermine human dignity and values. Mr. Refat Chubarov spoke about the consequences of Russian propaganda in the occupied Crimea after 2014 when the occupiers did everything to reformat the consciousness of people and, especially, children, disturbing their psyche, imposing their shameful narratives of “Russian peace”, and about the consequences, to which it may lead in the minds of people. Concluding his speech, Refat Chubarov wished fruitful work to all scientific and pedagogical workers and expressed firm confidence that thanks to the work of Ukrainian scientists, researchers, and teachers, our state will be able to quickly restore both the economy of the liberated territories and Ukraine as a whole.
