SKETCHING SESSION AT THE NATIONAL SCIENCE AND NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF UKRAINE

Students of the specialty 023 Fine Art, Decorative Art, Restoration, Educational program Digital Art at the initiative of Inga Yermak, associate professor of the Department of Digital Art, visited the well-known the National Science and Natural History Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The museum collection includes more than 30,000 exhibits that tell about the origin, structure and evolution of the earth, its flora and fauna, their past and present, about the history of the material culture of the tribes and peoples that inhabited the territory of Ukraine. The central place in the museum is occupied by a complex of diorama-landscape expositions and bio-groups, the number of which reaches 24.

The objects of nature for student sketches were millennia-old models, namely: the skeletons of the ancestors of modern man - Neanderthals and Homo sapiens. Anatomical features of the skeletons of ancient creatures are interesting for their exotic shape, the study of which helps to study the structure and plastic features of animals and people at different stages of evolution. To create fantasy images, competent modeling of characters, to express their correct mechanics, logic of movement, you need to study anatomy, creating sketches from real-life objects for museum dioramas.

Sketching develops one of the most important skills of a future artist – to quickly visualize objects of nature and one's creative ideas. This is the best way to capture a fleeting impression of what you see before everything changes. Sketching is an improvisation that turns objects and objects, emotions and impressions into a memory.
