ONLINE LECTION «RESEARCH IN NUCLEAR SAFETY» BY MARIYA BROVCHENKO, PHD, DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS, INSTITUT DE RADIOPROTECTION ET DE SÛRETÉ NUCLÉAIRE (PARIS, FRANCE)

In connection with several issues related to the current state of nuclear energy and nuclear safety research, the lecturers of the Department of Applied Physics and Higher Mathematics organized a lecture by a representative of the scientific community in the field of nuclear research, PhD Mariya Brovchenko.

The lecture was attended by 25 students of various specialties, as the topic was interesting and relevant to all the students. The conference was moderated by Iryna Oleinikova, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Physics and Higher Mathematics. The speaker, Mariya Brovchenko, a native of Kyiv, spoke about her scientific career and described the main activities of the Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety in France.

The lecture aimed to demonstrate the prospects of nuclear energy and overcome the stereotype of the danger of nuclear power plants that emerged after the Chornobyl accident in 1986. The students had the opportunity to get answers to their questions and learn about the latest types of nuclear reactors and their operation.

At the end of the lecture, Mariya spoke about the international project “Open radiation”, in which KNUTD participates after IRSN donated 6 modern detectors.

With the help of these detectors, our applicants can enter the results of radiation background measurements into a common virtual map of the world from different parts of Ukraine.
