Congratulations to the winners of the all-Ukrainian competition «Rebuild Ukraine»

Congratulations to the winners of the all-Ukrainian competition, a master student of the Department of Interior and Furniture Design Serhii Syomkin and Professor Vadym Abyzov, who, according to an independent vote of the international jury, took 2nd place in the Rebuild Ukraine/Відбудуй Україну hackathon dedicated to the reconstruction of the Saltivka district in the city of Kharkiv destroyed by ruscists!

The results have already been published on the website: 2023 Winners | Rebuilduahackathon.

As a result of the attack by the aggressor country, more than a million Ukrainian families are in dire need of high quality housing. The competition offers to solve the problem and use innovative Speedstac modules and Kingspan metal panels to partially replace or completely restore damaged residential buildings. The task of the competition was to restore damaged buildings in the Saltivka housing estate. The participants were given the freedom to choose between designing a completely new house or reproducing an existing damaged building by creating additional apartments. The competition aims to encourage architects and students to think innovatively and creatively in developing design solutions that can meet the urgent need for sustainable and efficient housing using Speedstac industrial modules and Kingspan panels.

The main idea of the authors of the competition project was to create a harmonious, sustainable and attractive design of the environment by using the maximum variety of apartment types and residential block-sections based on a limited number of Speedstac building modules while ensuring a wide planning and town planning option. This approach makes it possible to form a modern building for various conditions of reconstruction and construction in Ukraine, taking into account the complete demolition and restoration of damaged residential buildings. At the same time, the project envisages compositional and spatial expressiveness and high density and cascading of residential buildings using the principles of sustainable development.

The authors were particularly interested in the relevance of the topic and the opportunity to participate in the reconstruction of our country.
