On September 27, 2023, at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, in the theatrical and art space “Kovcheh”, the 1st-year students majoring in "Performing Arts" of the Department of Performing Arts and Culture were initiated into KNUTD students, namely, into the creative workshop of People's Artist of Ukraine Lev Somov.
All the teachers and students of the workshop, as well as, of course, the main heroes of the occasion – the freshmen – were involved in the solemn and colourful event.
The 3rd and 4th-year students enchantingly presented the workshop to all new students, their parents, relatives, and friends. Together with their masters, they created a real show, with dance numbers, vocals, jokes, acting pieces and managed to open the bright soul of their workshop to the audience.
The 2nd-year creative workshops of the art directors, Honoured Artists of Ukraine Viacheslav Dovzhenko and Olena Lazovych also took part in this event, presenting their original and unique acting schools.
But the most important people at this bright holiday were the 1st-year students of Lev Somov’s creative workshop. They had been preparing for this day with great enthusiasm, as it was their first meeting with the audience as students of KNUTD. They prepared a full-fledged short play to prove themselves in front of their future mentors.

In an original creative manifestation, the 1st-year students were looking for the magic "Door to the profession". Their path was thorny and difficult, but they overcame all obstacles and achieved their goal.

The first-year students dedicated the dance to all the students and teachers of the workshop. They showed who they look up to and what they want to achieve.

The artistic director of the workshop, People’s Artist of Ukraine Lev Somov, enchanted the audience with his cello playing, performing Saint-Saëns’ composition.
Each of the masters also performed on the stage of the Kovcheh art space, focusing on the comprehensive development of students.

Light will surely defeat the darkness
The students of the Department of Performing Arts and Culture do not forget for a moment that the war, in which the whole of Ukraine is fighting on the side of light, is ongoing. Therefore, the 4th-year students created a musical, plastic and literary composition in which they reflected on the events of 24.02.2022 and loudly declared our faith in the victory over darkness!

The finale of the big event was the performance of the “Workshop Anthem”, with 70 people on stage at the same time, several generations of students and graduates. The 4th-year students welcomed the freshmen into their family with open hearts, and the initiation into students was held in a friendly and sincere atmosphere.
We are convinced that we will see the incredible team of the creative workshop of the People's Artist of Ukraine Lev Somov on stage many times, so we are waiting for you at performances and screenings!
