On 11.10.2023, at the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design, the Department of Applied Physics and Higher Mathematics held a regular meeting of the "THEORY OF CHOICE AND DECISION MAKING" group, which aims to teach how to formalize a practical problem in the language of mathematics, justify the model and analyze the results of the study; increase cognitive activity and interest in mathematics, self-education. Supervisor: Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Oksana Lagoda.

Topic: "Application of the minimax criterion and Lagrange criterion for solving the simplest statistical decision-making problems"

The club was attended by students of groups BIT 1-22, BIT 2-22, BIP 1-22 and BIP 2-22.  They considered the antagonistic case of matrix games, in particular matrix games with saddle points. The payoff matrix for the game "two-finger morra" was constructed and its maximin and minimax were found. The algorithm for finding the saddle point, provided that it exists, was analyzed. The cases of the minimax criterion and the Lagrange criterion were considered. It was proposed to solve both Colonel Blott's problem and the "five-finger morra" manually and by programming certain modules.
