GLOBAL MONEY WEEK IN KNUTD

From 18 to 24 March 2024, Ukraine, along with the rest of the world, celebrated Global Money Week, which is an annual international educational campaign dedicated to the development of financial awareness of young people, the formation of knowledge and skills necessary for making informed financial decisions.

As part of Global Money Week and the career guidance activities of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting of the Faculty of Management and Business Design, a meeting was organised with 11th grade students of Specialised School No. 40 in Kyiv. Kyiv.

The meeting of the Department's teachers, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor Dmytro Kovalenko and Doctor of Economics, Professor Nataliia Radionova, with the students was held in the format of a workshop aimed at improving the financial literacy of young people.

On 21 March 2024, a roundtable meeting on "Financial Literacy: Just About Money" was held in the M. Voronin Memorial Hall.

The round table began with a greeting from the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Business Design, Doctor of Economics, Professor Oleksandra Olshanska.

 

Alisa Stepanyan, a stakeholder of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting, FUIB branch manager, took part in the discussion and told the students about the importance of money for economic development and the main functions of the Ukrainian banking system.

As part of the round table on "Financial Literacy: Just About Money", a competition for the best report was held. Students presented the results of their research: Veronika Prokopenko, Anton Kurinnyi, Valeria Shmai, Mykola Ryaska, Alina Cherniay, Yulia Gersak  and Oksana Trokhliuk.

Following the competition, a vote was held among the students and the best reports were selected. The winners were:

I place - Alina Chernyay with a report on the topic "The importance of money for modern society";

II place - Yulia Gersak  with a report on "Formation of monetary systems. Ukrainian hryvnia";

III place - Valeria Shmay with a report on "Strategy of financial sector development in the period of post-war recovery of Ukraine".

Valuable gifts to the winners and tasty prizes to other participants were presented by the Head of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting, Doctor of Economics, Professor Iryna Tarasenko.

A valuable gift was also received by Alisa Stepanyan, FUIB branch manager, who has been a stakeholder of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting for many years, cooperating both in the scientific and educational spheres.

An interesting webinar organised by the NBU and dedicated to the topic "How information changes our thinking and behaviour" concluded the Global Money Week events at the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design. The speaker was Oksana Moroz, founder of the infohygiene initiative "How not to become a vegetable". Participants included not only faculty and students of the Faculty of Management and Business Design, but also other faculties of the university. 

The participants gained new knowledge on the following issues:

  • The basis for the formation of manipulations (research).
  • How Telegram and TikTok are manipulated.
  • Is there any truth in time of war? How to distinguish between objective media and garbage.
  • Scammers in time of war.
  • How to minimise the impact of infoviruses on people. Rules of infohygiene.

Head of the Department - Doctor of Economics, Professor I. Tarasenko, as well as Doctor of Economics, Professor A. Zolkover, Doctor of Economics, Professor N. Radionova, Associate Professor Y. Rusina, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor D. Kovalenko, Senior Laboratory Assistant S. Rybchynska joined the organisation of events within the framework of Global Money Week.
