On April 03, 2024 in the conference hall of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, on purpose to improve the quality of the educational process, internationalization of higher education and in the context of international cooperation in the field of science and education, strengthening the professional training of students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies, the Department of Industrial Pharmacy organized an open lecture by Candidate Biological Sciences, Senior Researcher of the laboratory of medical botany of the M. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, invited lecturer of the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) Inna KOVAL on the topic «Representatives of the genus Rosa – plants of multifunctional use».

The lecture was held in a mixed format. Teachers, students and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies of KNUTD gathered in the rector's meeting room to listen to the lecture together. Many interested students and teachers also joined the lecture online.

During the lecture, Ms Inna informed the audience about the species diversity of plants of the genus Rosa, their morphological and anatomical features and distribution in different climatic zones. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. As a result of the research, Inna KOVAL and her colleagues for the first time found that the spectrum of volatile organic substances includes 105 components of different groups of biologically active compounds, including mono- and sesquiterpenoids, saturated unbranched hydrocarbons, etc.

The open lecture aroused great interest, lively discussions and received positive feedback from both the teachers of the department and students, as higher education students will be able to apply the knowledge gained in the study of the disciplines «Pharmaceutical Botany» and «Pharmacognosy and Pharmacognostic Methods of Analysis».
