STUDENT RESEARCH WORK AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION IN TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN

Under the conditions of martial law, student research at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design does not stop but rather continues and acquires a deeper meaning.

On April 2, 2024, a meeting of the scientific club “Education for Sustainable Development”, headed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design Maria Bilianska, was held on the topic “Using Sustainable Fashion Ideas in Educational Activities”. Valentyna Nazarchuk, a graduate of the Department and head of the Fashion Hub of the MIDGARD educational territory, was invited to the meeting and shared her experience with  students of the first (bachelor’s), second (master’s), third (educational and scientific) levels of higher education in the specialties 015 Professional Education (by subject specialization) on how to use materials economically in the process of designing products with students. The members of the group had the opportunity to learn about the ideas of recycling and upcycling that Valentyna uses in her practical work.

  

On April 10, 2024, a regular meeting of the Positive Psychology scientific club was held on the topic "Emotional Intelligence and Ways of Its Development" in order to form the knowledge of higher education students about the peculiarities of the development of emotional intelligence with the possibility of training skills of self-regulation, self-motivation and relationship management, which allows to increase efficiency and satisfaction in life. The meeting was attended by students of the BPS-23 group. The head of the scientific club is Rimma Kirichenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design, Candidate of Psychology. The meeting covered the concepts of empathy, self-regulation, and the practical use of emotional intelligence. The students also had the opportunity to understand what developed emotional intelligence provides in various spheres of life to solve professional and personal problems. The students took an emotional intelligence test (N. Hall), assessed their own level of development of individual components of emotional intelligence, and learned about the areas of its development. The participating students were able to consolidate the knowledge gained in practice by performing various exercises, participating in interactive activities and discussions using the group reflection method. During the training exercises, the students learned to better understand their own emotions and those of others, which is an important element of successful social interaction and relationships. The participants shared their own insights and feelings that were born in the process of psychological work.

On April 23, 2024, a meeting of the scientific club of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design “Know Yourself” was held. The meeting was attended by higher education students of the first (bachelor's) level of the educational programme “Psychology”. Within the framework of the Psychology Week, the head of the group, Alla Kolodiazhna, Associate Professor of the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design, Candidate of Psychological Sciences and Assistant of the Department Oleksandra Chyzh conducted a training for students on the development of emotional intelligence. The purpose of the meeting was to increase students’ knowledge of emotional intelligence, teach them to better understand and regulate their own emotional state and prevent emotional burnout. Emotional intelligence is an important component of personal development that can be developed. A person who is able to manage their emotions and recognise the feelings of others is confident in their own abilities, remains calm in problematic situations and communicates effectively with others.

An important aspect of the training is to increase the ability to recognise and understand one's own emotions, intentions, motivation and desires, as well as the feelings of others, which is an important prerequisite for a person's competitiveness in the labour market.
