On April 28, 2024, an offline career festival in Product IT called "Open Day for Students" was held for students from educational institutions in Ukraine. This event was organized by the Ukrainian co-founding IT company Genesis and its partner companies.
Based on the selection results (completed questionnaire, motivational letter, and CV), Vladyslav Karakai, a second-year student of the Department of Information and Computer Technologies at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Computer Technologies of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, specializing in Software Engineering (group BIP2-22), was invited to the event.
The event program included:
- Panel discussion "How to start a career in Product IT as a student?"
- Opportunity to meet with companies and their representatives and make a good impression;
- Career consultations from experts;
- Opportunities to have CV reviewed or undergo quick interviews;
- Quest and other activities;
- Gifts from companies;
- Job fair.
The panel discussion "How to start a career in product IT for students?" was moderated by Oleksandra Tykhalova, University Partnerships Lead.
Speakers at the panel discussion "How to start a career in product IT for students?" included Yelyzaveta Onyshchuk, Creative Marketing Specialist; Volodymyr Fedorets, Product Marketing Analyst; Maria Vareshchuk, Product Manager; and Mark Motlyuk, Software Engineer, who shared their experiences of becoming part of the company and discussed their current work projects.
The speakers emphasized that if the goal is not achieved on the first attempt, it is important not to give up but to keep trying new approaches. Headway EdTech, a company creating microlearning products, which helps over 90 million users worldwide to develop and cultivate a sustainable learning habit, is listed among the most influential companies worldwide transforming digital education and professional skills the GSV 150. They shared their experience with social initiatives aimed at supporting Ukraine.
One of the exciting stages of the festival was a team quest, which also required registration.
Participants in the quest were divided into 10 teams. The quest involved a small journey with a map indicating numbered stands of companies within the ecosystem. Teams had to visit each stand and complete the company's task within 10 minutes. This way, teams received a corresponding number of points for correctly completed tasks and waited for the timer to finish before moving on to the next stand.
The winning team members will be provided with consultation regarding their future development, assistance with their CV, and LinkedIn profile.
We sincerely thank the Genesis company team for providing an interesting experience for higher education seekers in the IT product development field. Genesis is focused on the Ukrainian market, supports the Ukrainian economy, and has partnerships with Ukrainian universities, including the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
