On October 9, 2024, as part of the Design Week at KNUTD, an online lecture was held by the head of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, Doctor of Study of Art, Professor Nataliia Chuprina. The lecture was part of the broad program of the Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week, of which Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design is a permanent participant. This time, not only students, postgraduate students and teachers of KNUTD, but also our partners from various higher education institutions of Ukraine and abroad were involved in the lecture.
The topic of the online lecture "The fashion system of the 20th - early 21st century: design practices and factors of functioning" reflects the content and basic concept of the presentation of extensive and interesting factual material – modern fashion originates and develops in the context of the formation of design as a leading sphere of activity today, and its design solutions do not arise spontaneously, but are the result of the development of society and the socio-cultural environment of each era.
In the course of the story, detailed illustrative material on the history of the formation of the modern fashion system was given and effective parallels were drawn between the stages of the birth of the fashion industry at the beginning of the 20th century and the directions of its development in the first quarter of the 21st century.
The lecturer, who is the guarantor of the educational program "Graphic Design" of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education, paid special attention to the issue of reflecting the main design trends in such areas of design related to fashion as graphic illustration and fashion photography, demonstrating the close connection between these areas in the created an aesthetically attractive and sought-after project image.
The information presented in the lecture aroused the lively interest of the listeners, so a dialogue with the listeners and answers to the questions can be considered a separate part of the communication on the stated topic.
