On October 29, 2024, within the framework of the scientific club “Scientific developments in the Design and Production of Fashion Industry Products” (supervised by Associate Professors of the Department of Fashion Technology Tymofii Lypskyi and Antonina Babych), a scientific and practical seminar “Features of theatrical costumes production. Traditional and modern non-standard materials and technologies for the production of the theatrical costumes” was held.

The event was held at the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theatre.  The students visited the design studio of Dmytro Kuryata, who is a leading designer of the theatre’s stage costumes. They visited the production workshop and learnt about the stages and features of creating a theatre costume.

Dmytro Kuryata introduced the students to the theatre, its cast, repertoire and the specifics of the work of an artist, designer, costume designer, stylist, make-up artist, etc. He also shared his experience in developing designs and product technologies.

All the participants of the meeting shared their thoughts on the use of traditional and modern non-typical materials for creating costumes, taking into account the era and events of the performance in the development of product designs of both classical and non-standard modern forms.

The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere. It was interesting and informative. The results of the scientific and practical seminar can be used in further research on the use of modern materials for the manufacture of products of various types; in the educational process for students under the Fashion Industry educational programme in practice when developing product design, as well as for the preparation of scientific publications and creative works on this topic.
