On November 28, 2024, a meeting of the Examination Commission (EC) was held to defend the qualification works of students of the second (master’s) educational level of higher education at the Department of Fashion Technology under the educational programme “Fashion Industry”. The meeting was in a hybrid format, namely in person for most students and via video conference with a student who is abroad.
The meeting was opened by Mykhailo Kucherenko, Chairman of the Qualification Works Defence Committee and owner of SURICAT UA, a company producing haberdashery for various purposes. Mr Kucherenko congratulated the students on their graduation and stressed that the implementation of bold project ideas by young people is extremely important in today’s realities. “I wish that the master’s degree you have received will certainly be beneficial to you and your employers”, he said in his welcoming speech.
The EC also included the academic staff of the Department of Fashion Technology – Olha Haranina, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department; Antonina Babych, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor; Oksana Vodzinska, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor; Lilia Chertenko, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor.
The EC meeting for the defence of qualification works was held in a friendly atmosphere with the participation of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion Natalia Ostapenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor; scientific supervisors of students’ qualification works – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Natalia Pervaia, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Tymofii Lipskyi and Head of the Laboratory Larysa Rzhavicheva.
The graduates of the Department of Fashion Technology of the second (master’s) educational level in the Fashion Industry presented their developments of modern models of shoes, bags, clothes, published the results of their research on current problems of the industry and society in the face of new challenges, successfully defended their qualification works and answered the questions posed by the commission members. It is worth noting that during the discussion of the final grades, the chairman of the EC noted the high level of training of students at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, their significant interest in both the programme and the results of their studies, so the grades based on the results of the qualification work defence are excellent. Three full-time graduates received a master’s degree with honours. The chairman also noted that all graduates are already employed in their specialty, they are interested in their profession, develop in it and represent the University with dignity in the fashion industry.
Olha Haranina, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Fashion Technology of KNUTD, congratulated the graduates on the successful defence of their qualification works and completion of their studies at KNUTD, the students’ supervisors, and thanked the chairman of the EC, Mykhailo Kucherenko, and all the heads of enterprises cooperating with the Department of Fashion Technology for many years of cooperation, the opportunity to train students in the production conditions of enterprises and the possibility of implementing bold student ideas, including those embodied in qualification works. Such cooperation between the Department and enterprises has significantly increased the level of graduates’ professional skills and competencies in the production of fashion industry products for various purposes, developed the ability to communicate professionally, and contributed to the potential employment of graduates of the EP “Fashion Industry”. “In times of war, every achievement, every victory on the professional and personal front is a step towards our common dream of a peaceful life. Defending qualification papers in such circumstances is not a formality, it is a symbol that life and dreams go on, even under fire. Thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, we have the opportunity to build our future, develop science, culture and creativity. The works of our students are another proof that the Ukrainian people not only fight, but also create, inspire and win. May your professional path be successful, and may the country win victory and peace as soon as possible. You are real heroes on your daily front!” Olha Haranina said in her closing remarks.
