LECTURERS OF THE FACULTY OF DESIGN PARTICIPATED IN AN ONLINE SEMINAR OF BIRMINGHAM CITY UNIVERSITY

On February 25, 2025, lecturers from the Faculty of Design, KNUTD, took part in an online seminar organized by Birmingham City University (BCU, UK), a partner institution. The seminar focused on the prospects of artificial intelligence (AI) in inclusive education.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Serdar Abrasi, a digital education lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, provided an overview of the main issues of inclusivity and artificial intelligence in education. He particularly emphasized the combination of collective learning based on inclusivity principles and AI-driven individualization. It was highlighted that these approaches and technologies should be integrated into the curriculum at the course design stage.

Dr. Abrasi also addressed the challenges of AI implementation, pointing out that AI systems tend to be designed based on the most common educational practices, often reflecting historical and cultural biases. As a result, AI may favor educated white populations from developed nations while failing to consider the needs of underrepresented communities.

The discussion was further expanded during a panel discussion featuring experts in education and digital technologies from various institutions across the United Kingdom and Vietnam.

We sincerely thank our partners at Birmingham City University for an insightful and engaging seminar!
