PARTICIPATION OF THE TEACHER OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION IN TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN IN THE WEBINAR “PTSD. MODERN APPROACHES TO TREATMENT”

On April 8, 2025, Alla Kolodyazhna, Candidate of Psychological Sciences and Associate Professor at the Department of Professional Education in Technology and Design, participated in a webinar titled “Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Modern Approaches to Treatment.” The event was part of the project “Professional Development in Mental Health: Knowledge, Experience, Practice”, organized by the Coordination Center for Mental Health under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine / Mental Health UA.

The purpose of the event was to provide access to the knowledge and expertise of internationally recognized specialists, and to introduce participants to best clinical practices and the latest scientific innovations. The webinar was conducted online.

The project is being implemented within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program “How Are You?”, initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska.

Key topics of the webinar included the adaptation of evidence-based approaches to PTSD within the Ukrainian context, the acquisition of current knowledge and skills by professionals working with patients, and the application of clinical practices based on international guidelines.

The speaker at the event was Dr. Israel Lieberzon, a leading expert in the field of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), MD, and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Texas A&M Medical College. His research focuses on neurocircuits, molecular abnormalities, and signaling pathways associated with PTSD. Dr. Lieberzon is both a clinician and scientist with extensive experience in PTSD, anxiety and depressive disorders, the neurobiology of stress, and the neuroanatomy of emotion.

It is worth noting that Dr. Liberzon placed special emphasis on the integration of evidence-based approaches to PTSD treatment within the Ukrainian context, offering new opportunities for mental health professionals. He currently leads the clinical psychiatry component of the Interprofessional Practice Faculty at the Texas A&M Health Science Center. His research career spans over a decade at the University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor Veterans Administration Medical Center, where he founded the PTSD and Neuroimaging Program.
