CREATIVE ACHIEVEMENTS OF STUDENTS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF FASHION AND STYLE, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM “DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY OF GARMENTS”

Graduates of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education of the Department of Fashion and Style, Maria Maysak and Kateryna Roienko (Group BSh-21), majoring in “Design and Technology of Garments”, brightly declared themselves at the XXV International Competition of Young Designers “Pecherski Kashtany” with the collection “UkrainianMuseLine” at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and the All-Ukrainian Competition of Young Fashion Designers “Barvi Podillya-2025” with the collection “FolkVeil” at Khmelnytskyi National University.

Since childhood, Maria and Kateryna have been captivated by fashion, textiles, and the aesthetics of Ukrainian style, actively developing their creative potential as members of two scientific clubs: “Art and Fashion: A Creative View of Design” (supervised by PhD, Associate Professor, and Head of the Department of Fashion and Style, T.V. Struminska, and Senior Lecturer T.V. Remenyeva), and “Creative Design and Innovative Technologies for Garment Manufacturing” (supervised by PhD, Associate Professor L.B. Bilotska and Assistant S.Yu. Lozovenko).

The creative duo of Maria and Kateryna presented their debut designer collection – sincere, emotionally rich, and deeply symbolic. At the heart of their work lies embroidery as the cultural code of the nation, a visual manifesto of the Ukrainian people’s resilience, dignity, and uniqueness.

The idea of creating an ethnic collection originated with Maria Maisak, and the team embraced the concept without hesitation. The “UkrainianMuseLine” collection is not just modern clothing with traditional elements – it is a silent yet eloquent story that requires no translation. It speaks of belonging, of a heritage worth preserving, and of the strength passed down through generations.

The honorary jury of the International Competition of Young Designers “Pecherski Kashtany” highly appreciated the creativity, technical execution, and ideological content of the collection. Maria and Kateryna were the winners in the “Folk” nomination.

As a reward from the University’s stakeholder and long-term partner, the Ukrainian company “Softorg”, the young talents received certificates and the opportunity to participate in a social project that provides maximum media support for the laureates, aimed at fruitful future cooperation with brands and manufacturers, namely: presentations of collections on the “Softorg” website https://softorg.ua/ and in social networks; an advertising campaign focused on recognition among the target audience; an e-mail newsletter for brands looking for new ideas; posting news in specialized communities. This opens up new horizons and opportunities for Maria and Kateryna to implement their ideas in the design world. It should be noted that part of the project has already been implemented: https://softorg.ua/novyny/pecherski-kashtany-2025-2/, https://www.facebook.com/softorgukraine

We express our deep gratitude to the “Softorg” company for many years of partnership, for supporting the production and implementation of large-scale ideas, for fostering active collaboration within the light industry ecosystem, and for promoting the industry and helping to transform public attitudes toward it.

We are proud of our talented students and sincerely wish them continued inspiration, new achievements on their creative journey, and constant growth and development.
