On March 23, 2026, representatives of the Faculty of Design of KNUTD participated in the ELIA Dialogue Series 2026 webinar of the European League of Institutions of Art ELIA, of which KNUTD has been a member since 2024.
The ELIA Dialogue Series was launched in 2024 as an online space where higher art education communities, international experts and thought leaders could meet to address pressing issues facing higher art education institutions in times of crisis and conflict.
The dialogue series is a key part of ELIA’s advocacy efforts to expand international engagement through the valuable exchange of relevant research, resources, and experiences.
Speakers at the meeting, Amy Capit of «Scholars at Risk» (USA), Professor Mitry Raheb of Dar al-Kalima University (Palestine), and Yulia Korneiko of the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, discussed the challenges facing higher art education in countries experiencing military conflict today.

Drawing on their experiences, the speakers reflected on how institutions and individuals are overcoming the challenges of war, as well as how cross-border solidarity can support colleagues at risk and help sustain academic life in extreme conditions. The speakers’ presentations were followed by a moderated discussion and an open question-and-answer session.

The speech of Yulia Korneiko, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Assistant to the Rector for International Educational Projects of the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts was inspiring. Ms. Yulia spoke about the problems faced by educational institutions in Ukraine during the war. She noted that, despite the difficulties, the institutions continue to work and educate students. Thanks to international support, Ukrainian institutions have the opportunity to participate in international projects, exhibitions, competitions, academic mobility programs, listen to online lectures and master classes of foreign professors, etc.

We thank the leadership and members of the European League of Institutions of Art ELIA for their commitment to supporting and uniting their members, creating spaces for open dialogue, academic and artistic exchange!
