On April 22, 2026, the Department of Economics, in cooperation with the consulting company "Scientific Publications", which specializes in scientometrics services and constantly implements research projects, held a webinar "Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Activities: How to Ethically and Effectively Use AI in Work". The event was attended by scientific and pedagogical employees of higher education institutions of Ukraine and higher education students, in particular, postgraduate students and masters of the Department of Economics studying in the specialty C1 Economics and International Economic Relations. Speaker Anastasia Zueva began by introducing the audience and highlighted the difficulties that scientists face in working with scientific texts and preparing articles.
Based on the regulatory framework for regulating integrity issues in Ukraine, the speaker outlined the types of scientific work that may involve the use of AI, as well as technical actions by scientists to ensure the responsible use of AI, in particular, checking the correctness of generated content, references to sources, ensuring the originality of the text and personal author's contribution, compliance with confidentiality and copyright requirements.
The procedure for declaring the use of AI and the use of AI detectors when submitting and reviewing articles in publications included in the international scientometric database SCOPUS were separately considered.
Considering the possibilities and personal techniques for searching and structuring information, as well as its visualization on various AI platforms, webinar participants joined in discussing the disadvantages of using AI-based language models.

The most interesting part of the webinar was definitely the participants’ questions and the organizers’ answers. The participants were particularly interested in the discussion of existing problems of publishing articles containing generated content or those written using the analytical functions of AI. The webinar participants expressed their wish to continue meetings on the use of AI in scientific works on the basis of the educational and scientific laboratory SMART-studio of the Department of Economics. We are sincerely grateful to our colleagues and higher education applicants for joining our event.
