PRACTICAL IMMERSION INTO THE WORLD OF FOLK SYMBOLISM BY CULTURAL STUDIES STUDENTS

On April 30, 2026, first- and third-year students majoring in "Cultural Studies and Museum Studies," together with Associate Professors of the Department of Performing Arts and Culture K.O. Dannyk and D.S. Cherniak, visited the National Museum of Decorative Art of Ukraine. The students explored an exhibition dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster. The exhibition featured works by Oleh Mashkevych, Maria Prymachenko, Liudmyla Zhohol, Oleksandr Milovzorov, Vitalii Khomenko, and Oleh Pietukhov.

Another exhibition the students had the opportunity to visit was "Easter Pysanka: From the Collection of Erast Binyashevsky". A physician by profession, Candidate of Medical Sciences, and Academic Secretary of the "Vidhook" Scientific Center for Physics of the Living and Microwave Resonance Therapy, Erast Binyashevsky is well known as an art critic, collector, and researcher of Ukrainian folk art. The "Easter Pysanka" exhibition presents over 40 sketches of pysankas from all regions of Ukraine and about 150 decorated Easter eggs from the scientist's collection, created by the renowned pysanka master Zoia Stashuk. Familiarization with the exhibition's exposition served as a great addition to the knowledge gained while studying the "Cultural Symbol Research" educational component.
