SCIENCE WEEK AT THE FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT

Science Week has become a true center of scientific activity, professional development, and creative exchange of ideas. Throughout the week, the faculty has lived in the rhythm of intellectual discussions, scientific events, presentations, and meetings that brought together students, academic and teaching staff, and practitioners. The program of events contributed to the popularization of science, the development of students’ research potential, and the formation of a modern scientific and educational environment.

As part of the “Science Week,” on May 12, 2026, a lecture-presentation entitled “Marketing in R&D: How New Products Are Created” was held by the “Dobrodiia” trademark. The event was dedicated to the role of marketing in the process of developing new products, studying consumer needs, and the practical aspects of bringing innovative products to the market.

The speaker of the event was Valentyna Onyshchenko, Marketing Director of TM “Dobrodiia”. During the meeting, she spoke about how ideas for new products emerge, how marketing research helps identify the expectations of the target audience, and why consumer feedback is an important stage in the process of creating competitive products.

The practical part of the event included a tasting of a new line of instant cereals designed for a youth audience. Participants had the opportunity to evaluate the taste characteristics of the presented products, share their impressions, identify the most appealing flavors, and provide suggestions for product improvement.

The purpose of the tasting was to identify the taste preferences of the youth, assess the level of interest in the new products, and collect feedback on the presented line of cereals. This format of the event made it possible to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience and demonstrated how marketing and R&D interact in the process of creating new products.

Also on May 12, 2026, a scientific discussion entitled “Brand Strategy: ‘Architect of Worlds and Defender of Rights’” took place. The speaker of the event was Anfisa Smetanina, also known as Vlada Kholod (@vlada_kholod_booknet), a contemporary author, literary scholar, book blogger, and co-founder of the “Literary Guild.” During the discussion, participants talked about building a personal brand, the power of narratives in the modern world, the combination of creativity and law, and how a writer can become a true architect of their own universe.

The students and lecturers of the department attended the lecture and were open to lively dialogue, new ideas, and inspiration for scientific and creative development.

On May 12, 2026, the Department of Economics also held an interactive educational event entitled “Economic Battle: Human vs. AI”, dedicated to current issues of using artificial intelligence technologies in economic analysis and forecasting. The event became a platform for combining modern digital tools, critical thinking, and students’ teamwork.

The event took place in the SMART Studio educational and scientific laboratory, which serves as an innovative space for developing digital competencies and the practical application of modern technologies in the field of economics. Members of the student scientific club “SMART Ideas in Management, Economics and Business” of the Department of Economics, as well as the department’s lecturers, took part in the event.

During the first stage, participants were tasked with guessing terms commonly used by neural network users.

The second stage, entitled “Economic Duel: Forecast,” was dedicated to forecasting a macroeconomic indicator – the inflation rate in Ukraine during the first half of 2026. The team of postgraduate students prepared their forecast without using AI tools, relying on the dynamics of statistical data on exchange rate fluctuations, forecasts of changes in energy prices, and export-import volumes. Meanwhile, bachelor’s degree students predicted changes in the inflation rate using various neural network tools.

Participants not only evaluated the forecasts generated by artificial intelligence but also engaged in well-reasoned discussions about the factors that could influence economic scenarios. The forecasted inflation values ranged from 7-8% to 12%. The winner will be determined by official statistics in July this year. We are looking forward to announcing the winner!

On May 13, 2026, an actual training session “Psychological Adaptation of Youth in New Conditions” took place. The event brought together students from various specialties who sought to develop stress resilience skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing life circumstances. During the meeting, participants, together with a psychologist, explored the mechanisms of psychological reactions to change and learned how to transform stressful situations into opportunities for personal growth.

The program of the event included:

-      self-help techniques – practical exercises aimed at reducing anxiety “here and now”;

-      adaptation strategies – how to effectively integrate into a new educational and social environment;

-      resourcefulness and emotional balance – where to find inspiration and how to maintain mental health during studies.

Particular interest was generated by the practical part of the session, during which metaphorical associative cards (MAC) were used to practice adaptation techniques. This tool helped participants work through internal barriers more deeply, discover hidden resources, and, through visual imagery, find their own ways of overcoming difficulties.

Moreover, students took part in the experiment entitled “Group Thinking Effects”, which aimed to demonstrate how the context of a task, authority, and group dynamics influence group behavior and decision-making processes.

During the session, a well-known social experiment involving portraits was recreated, allowing participants to observe how such effects as authority, group thinking, conformity, framing, and cognitive biases – including labeling and the halo effect – manifest themselves in group discussions.

The importance of the workshop was explained by the fact that modern youth are forced to study and develop in a world that constantly presents new challenges. The organizers emphasized that psychological flexibility is becoming one of the key soft skills for a modern professional, regardless of their field of study.

On May 5, 2026, at the initiative of the Department of Finance, a round table entitled “Digital Technologies in Finance, Economics and Management: Development, Opportunities and Areas of Application” was held. Within the framework of the round table, participants had the opportunity to listen to presentations by invited experts, present their own research during the report-presentation competition, and join discussions on current issues of digital transformation in finance, economics, and management. Meaningful presentations were delivered, generating considerable interest and active discussion among the participants.

The second round of the competition took place on May 14, 2026, within the framework of the KNUTD Science Week, during which the results of the round table were summarized and the winners of the report-presentation competition were awarded.

According to the audience voting results, the winners were Daniil Nevgadovskyi and Kseniia Tveritinova with their presentation on the use of neuromarketing and Big Data in forecasting consumer decisions. Second place was awarded to Daryna Sliusar for her research on the application of artificial intelligence in finance, while third place went to Diana Kulyk for her presentation on the role of tokenization in the digital economy. Certificates and prizes were also awarded to Stanislav Ulanovskyi, Nadiia Mokhort, Ivan Korsunenko, Anna Ukhan, and Dmytro Irnazorov.

The awarding ceremony was conducted by the organizers of the competition — the Department of Finance of KNUTD together with invited experts: Oleksandra Shemiakova, Lead Specialist of the HR Group at UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group, and Yevheniia Lepekha, Head of the Employer Brand Development Sector at PUMB JSC.

The Science Week at the Faculty of Economics and Management once again confirmed the importance of combining scientific, educational, and practical activities in the training of modern specialists. The events held throughout the week contributed to the development of professional competencies, critical thinking, creativity, and digital skills of students. Participants had the opportunity not only to familiarize themselves with current trends in economics, management, marketing, finance, political science, and law, but also to engage in practical discussions, interactive forms of work, and scientific exchange of experience.

Let us keep the educational front strong together!
