On May 20, the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design became a hub for professional dialogue between seasoned European masters and the future generation of Ukrainian theatre practitioners. The Department of Performing Arts and Culture was honored to welcome scenographer Olga von Wahl and costume designer Karl-Christian Andreasen from Germany, whose visit was made possible through the fruitful cooperation with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany. As part of the preparations for the upcoming premiere of the musical "Insects," directed by Oksana Taranenko, students were granted a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the profound philosophy of creating a stage world that transcends mere decorative design.

The creative meeting explored the complex yet captivating journey of spatial transformation – from the initial void of the "black box" to the birth of a cohesive artistic universe. The masters provided an in-depth analysis of light and shadow as active participants in stage action, examined the significance of the floor as a key performance foundation, and emphasized the importance of visual experimentation in the search for aesthetic conflict. Particular emphasis was placed on the synergy between the director and the designers, as it is at the intersection of their visions that the true magic of a performance is born, where every visual reference becomes an integral part of the dramaturgical fabric.
