From March through May, a series of career workshops was held for KNUTD students, organized by the KNUTD Career and Employment Center in collaboration with specialists from the Kyiv City Employment Center.
The series included three practical events aimed at preparing students for successful employment and a confident start to their professional careers:

Students from the following programs participated in the events: “Graphic Design,” “Fashion Design,” “Digital Art,” “Marketing,” “Fashion Industry,” “Chemical Technology and Engineering,” and “Communication Marketing” “Business and Law,” “Software Engineering,” “Political Science and Public Communications,” as well as other students interested in professional development, job search, and preparing to interact with employers.

In the meetings, Iryna Safonova, a specialist at the Kyiv City Employment Center, discussed the key steps in preparing for a job search, the rules for creating an effective resume, and the specifics of interviewing with an employer. Participants learned about the different types of resumes, how to properly structure information about education, experience, skills, and achievements, as well as how to tailor a resume to a specific job opening.

Special attention was given to common mistakes to avoid when preparing a resume: excessive text, vague wording, a lack of specific skills, irrelevant information, and using the same resume for different positions. Students also received practical advice on how to present themselves even without significant work experience, as well as how to properly describe academic projects, internships, volunteer work, participation in events, and personal achievements.

During the training sessions on job interviews, participants reviewed the key steps in preparing for an interview, the rules of self-presentation, ways to make a positive first impression, and the specifics of communicating with an employer. Various interview formats were discussed: telephone, online, and in-person interviews, as well as introductory, professional, behavioral, and stress interviews.

The students learned how to answer common questions from employers, how to discuss their strengths, educational background, and motivation, as well as how to appropriately express their expectations regarding their future job. Special attention was given to preparing for online interviews: appearance, workspace, technical readiness, body language, and confident communication.

During the events, students actively participated in discussions and asked questions about writing their first resume, searching for entry-level positions, preparing for interviews after graduation, effectively describing their internships and skills, and preparing answers to difficult questions from employers. Particular interest was shown in questions regarding self-presentation, identifying one’s own strengths, and behavior during the first conversation with a potential employer.

The training sessions took place in a productive and friendly atmosphere. Participants noted the practical value of the information they received, as such sessions help them better understand the demands of today’s job market, prepare for their job search, and plan their career paths with greater confidence.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of the Kyiv City Employment Center for their fruitful cooperation, professional guidance, and support of KNUTD students on their path to successful employment!
