TEXTILE UNIVERSE, TUFTING AND IMAGES OF PARADISE – ANNA SAPON’S EXHIBITION AT THE KHANENKО MUSEUM

Students of the Faculty of Design of the educational program "Fashion Design", together with curators, associate professors of the Department of Art and Fashion Design Iryna Davydenko and Halyna Kokorina, plunged into the world of contemporary textile art by visiting the Khanenko Museum in the spring of 2026. The main purpose of the visit was a tour of the exhibition "With artists, curators, golden sunsets" – the first solo exhibition of artist Anna Sapon.

For future specialists in fashion design and the fashion industry, this exhibition has become a powerful source of creative inspiration. Especially for the project, Anna Sapon created a series of 11 monumental “rugs” on canvas, made in the tufting technique, as well as two art objects. In total, the exhibition presents about 30 works by the artist, including paintings, drawings and texts.

The students were particularly attracted to the combination of text and textiles: Anna Sapon created an author's poem for each carpet – a kind of "voice" of the product, which conducts a subtle emotional dialogue with the viewer. It was also interesting to see the sacred motifs: under the influence of the image of Oranta from Sophia of Kiev, the figures of women close to the author on the carpets are depicted in static, balanced poses. A separate object for professional study was innovative author's technologies - the craftswoman covers the seams on the back of the carpets with gold gilding, visualizing her own desire to get closer to the image of "paradise beauty".
