JAPANESE PUBLIC BROADCASTING CORPORATION NHK HIGHLIGHTED KNUTD INNOVATIONS IN ADAPTIVE FOOTWEAR
Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) was highlighted by Japan’s leading public broadcaster, NHK. The television company's journalists visited the university to prepare a special report dedicated to the importance of developing adaptive footwear for Ukrainian veterans who suffered severe lower limb injuries at the front.

During their visit to KNUTD, the film crew visited the 3D Anthropometric Research Laboratory, where they learned about the stages of designing specialized footwear for individuals with lower limb injuries. The journalists spoke with a recovering Ukrainian defender and observed how scientific innovations help veterans return to a full and comfortable life.

In addition, the NHK film crew explored adaptive footwear developed with modern digital technologies, which became more accessible through the participation of the Department of Fashion Technology faculty in the international Erasmus+ 3D4U project (ID 101128856).
As part of the exhibition, the journalists conducted a live broadcast and held an extensive interview with Nataliia Pervaia, Professor of the Department of Fashion Technology at the Faculty of Arts and Fashion of KNUTD. She outlined the key goals and achievements of the department’s team in developing adaptive footwear. Professor Pervaia emphasised the importance of advancing this field, given the limited number of domestic enterprises specialising in orthopaedic footwear manufacturing. Therefore, the academic staff of the Department of Fashion Technology addresses these challenges by actively collaborating with veterans and manufacturers, researching and developing functional, ergonomic, and aesthetically pleasing footwear tailored to the individual needs of wounded service members, thereby supporting their social adaptation.

The visit of a major international media outlet once again confirms the high social importance and relevance of the scientific and practical developments carried out by the team at the Department of Fashion Technology, Faculty of Arts and Fashion, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design under present-day conditions.
