SUCCESSFUL DEFENSE OF THE DISSERTATION OF VLADYSLAV UDOVYTSKYI FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN SPECIALTY 226 PHARMACY, INDUSTRIAL PHARMACY

On August 25, 2026, at a meeting of the one-time specialized academic council

PhD15741 at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD), the defense of the dissertation of Vladyslav UDOVYTSKYI for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty 226 Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy was held. The dissertation on the topic "Development of a pharmaceutical composition of prolonged action for the pharmacotherapy of Parkinson's disease" was completed under the scientific supervision of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy Volodymyr BESSARABOV.

Professional review and evaluation of the dissertation work was provided by a one-time specialized academic council consisting of the following members:

Chairman – Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy Vladyslav STRASHNYI;

Reviewers: Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD Olena ROIK;

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD Olena ISCHCHENKO;

Opponents: Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Drug Technology of Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University Bohdan BURLAKA;

Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Compounds, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of the Lviv Polytechnic National University Nataliia STADNYTSKA.

The dissertation work of Udovytskyi V. V. is devoted to the development of the technology of an injectable pharmaceutical composition based on the biodegradable polymer poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) with prolonged release of the active pharmaceutical ingredient levodopa for prospective use in the pharmacotherapy of Parkinson's disease. The work is relevant, scientifically substantiated and has practical significance for the development of modern approaches to the creation of anti-Parkinsonian drugs with prolonged action. During the study, the postgraduate student conducted a comprehensive characterization of the developed composition in terms of physicochemical, technological and biopharmaceutical properties, and investigated its stability. It was proven that the developed composition provides controlled release of levodopa for 23 days after a single injection, which makes it possible to significantly reduce the frequency of administration compared to traditional oral forms that require multiple doses during the day. The results obtained have significant scientific and practical significance and form the basis for the industrial production and introduction to the pharmaceutical market of innovative long-acting drugs to optimize the pharmacotherapy of Parkinson's disease.

Members of the one-time specialized academic council noted the high level of training of the postgraduate student, scientific novelty and practical significance of the results obtained. Based on the voting results, the specialized academic council unanimously decided to award Vladyslav UDOVITSKYI the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 22 Health Care in the specialty 226 Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy.

The staff of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy sincerely congratulates Vladyslav Vitaliyovych and his scientific supervisor Volodymyr Ivanovych. We wish him continued progress, new ideas, interesting research projects, and fruitful work that will contribute to strengthening the positions of Ukrainian pharmaceutical science in the international arena.
