KNUTD EXPANDS COOPERATION WITH PARTNERS FROM CENTRAL ASIAN COUNTRIES
On August 20, 2026, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design hosted a meeting between the University leadership and representatives of the academic, research, and analytical communities of Central Asian countries. The parties discussed prospects for developing international cooperation, implementing joint educational and research projects, promoting academic mobility, and expanding partnership networks.
KNUTD was represented at the meeting by Rector Oleksandra OLSHANSKA, First Vice-Rector Serhii OLIINYK, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Olena HRYHOREVSKA, Vice-Rector for Academic and Educational Affairs Taliat BIELIALOV, Acting Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs Viktoriia MARHASOVA, Head of the International Relations Office Svitlana FEDORENKO, and Deputy Head of the International Relations Office Tymofii DIUKARIEV.
The meeting was coordinated on behalf of KNUTD by Head of the Marketing Communications Department Marharyta AFTANDILIANTS.
The international delegation included Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at KIMEP University, PhD Nigmet IBADILDIN; founder and director of the NGO Goodwill AqNiet and member of the Advisory Board of the Department of International Relations and Regional Studies at KIMEP University Adlet KUMAR; Program Coordinator at the Central Asian Policy Studies Center (CAPS Unlock) Tlegen KUANDYKOV; Non-Resident Research Fellow at CAPS Unlock, journalist, researcher, and China expert Filip Noubel; and Executive Director of the human rights organisation Bir Duino – Kyrgyzstan Murat KARYPOV.
The meeting was also attended by Director of the Civil Diplomacy Foundation Fedir LAVRYNENKO and Deputy Director of the Civil Diplomacy Foundation Oleksandr HNYDIUK.
The visit took place as part of an expert visit to Ukraine by representatives of the academic, research, and analytical communities of Central Asian countries, organised within the framework of the project “Europe and Central Asia: Dialogue Without Borders.”
NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS
During the meeting, KNUTD Rector Oleksandra OLSHANSKA presented the University’s key areas of activity and emphasised the importance of developing international academic partnerships, which create new opportunities for students, faculty members, and researchers and facilitate the exchange of experience between universities from different countries.
Particular attention was paid to the prospects for cooperation between KNUTD and higher education institutions and academic organisations in Central Asia. Potential areas of cooperation include the development of joint educational programmes, academic mobility and double-degree programmes, as well as internships for students, postgraduate students, and academic staff.
The parties also discussed opportunities for joint research, participation in international grant projects, the development of interdisciplinary cooperation, and the exchange of research expertise and results.
Head of the International Relations Office Svitlana FEDORENKO introduced the guests to KNUTD’s international activities, its experience of cooperation with international partners, and opportunities for developing new academic partnerships. The discussion also focused on practical mechanisms for implementing future joint initiatives and engaging students and academic staff in them.
The participants emphasised the importance of expanding direct cooperation between universities, researchers, and expert communities in Ukraine and Central Asian countries. Such cooperation can provide a foundation for new educational and research projects and contribute to the development of academic mobility and professional networks.
EXPLORING KNUTD’S RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE
Following the meeting, the guests were given a tour of the University and introduced to KNUTD’s educational and research infrastructure. Particular attention was paid to the laboratories of the Faculty of Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Technologies.
Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Viktoriia PLAVAN presented research developments in the reuse and recycling of waste from the light and chemical industries, polymer recycling, and the development of new composite materials.
Doctor of Technical Sciences Volodymyr KHOMENKO introduced the guests to the Educational and Research Laboratory of Advanced Materials and Processes in Electrochemical Energy. He presented its research areas, including new materials for electrochemical energy technologies and chemical power sources, as well as materials for protection against electromagnetic radiation.
The activities of the Educational and Research Laboratory of Molecular Pharmacology, Chemogenomics and Biogerontology were presented by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Olena ISHCHENKO and Senior Research Fellow Vadym LISOVYI.
The tour of KNUTD’s research facilities gave the guests an opportunity to see the University’s research potential firsthand and discuss possible areas for future scientific cooperation.
The meeting provided a platform for establishing new professional contacts and discussing specific areas for further partnership. KNUTD continues to expand its international cooperation and remains open to implementing joint educational, research, and academic initiatives with partners from Central Asian countries.
