FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT WELCOMES FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS!

On August 26, 2026, the Faculty of Economics and Management warmly welcomed its first-year students – a new generation of talented, determined, and ambitious young people embarking on an important stage of their lives. The University’s large student community was joined by future economists, political scientists, finance professionals, managers, marketers, entrepreneurs, and lawyers.

The traditional meeting with first-year students provided an excellent opportunity to introduce them to the Faculty, its educational opportunities, academic traditions, and academic staff who will support and guide them on their path towards their future professions.

The event was opened by Tetiana Vlasiuk, Dean of the Faculty, PhD in Economics. In her welcoming address, Tetiana Vlasiuk congratulated the first-year students on behalf of Oleksandra Olshanska, Rector of the University, Doctor of Economics, Professor.

The first-year students learned about the long-standing history of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, the key milestones of its development, and its current achievements. The Dean also emphasised that the students are beginning their university journey at a time when Ukraine particularly needs educated, responsible, proactive professionals who are capable of critical thinking, making effective managerial decisions, contributing to economic development, and actively participating in the recovery and reconstruction of our country.

The first-year students were also welcomed by Polina Puzyrova, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Economics; Iryna Trasenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Finance; Alla Kasych, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Management; Olena Yevseitseva, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Marketing; Yurii Onishchyk, Doctor of Law, Professor, Head of the Department of Private and Public Law; Nataliia Fastovets, PhD in Public Administration, Associate Professor at the Department of Private and Public Law, Specialist at the Office of International and Project Activities; and Tetiana Bukoros, PhD in Political Science, Associate Professor at the Department of Private and Public Law, Director of the Scientific and Technical Library.

In their welcoming remarks, they wished the first-year students an exciting and fulfilling university experience, academic success, new friendships, memorable moments, confidence in their abilities, and inspiration to make the most of the opportunities offered by university life.

The first-year students were also addressed by Iryna Zhyvodenko, Head of the Student Council of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, who shared her personal experience of studying at the University and spoke about the opportunities that an active student life offers to young people. She emphasised that university years are not only about lectures, practical classes, and examination sessions, but also represent a unique period for personal development, making new connections, bringing one’s own ideas to life, and developing essential professional and leadership skills.

Iryna introduced the first-year students to the key areas of student self-government and highlighted the opportunities to participate in the University’s educational, scientific, cultural, sports, volunteering, and civic initiatives. She particularly emphasised that every student can not only take part in university events but also propose their own projects and initiatives, find like-minded people, and actively contribute to creating a vibrant and engaged student community.

Following a long-standing tradition, the first-year students of the Faculty of Economics and Management continued their introduction to university life with a visit to the KNUTD Museum of Embroidery. Here, the students had an opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of authentic Ukrainian culture, discover the rich cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people, and explore unique museum exhibits, including embroidered ritual towels, traditional paper-cut artworks (vytynanky), household items, and works of decorative and applied art.

Liudmyla Krekhova, Head of the Collection Storage Department of the KNUTD Scientific and Technical Library, conducted an informative guided tour for the first-year students. During the tour, she spoke about Ukrainian embroidery as a distinctive cultural code of national identity, highlighting its important role in preserving historical memory, national traditions, and the spiritual heritage of the Ukrainian people.

A symbolic conclusion to the meeting was the students gathering around the “Rushnyk of Unity”, which harmoniously brings together embroidered ornaments representing different regions of Ukraine. This meaningful moment became a powerful symbol of the unity and indivisibility of our country, the connection between generations, respect for national traditions, and the shared values that unite Ukrainians today.

The introduction to the Faculty continued at its respective departments, which will now become an integral part of the first-year students’ academic and university life. The future professionals had an opportunity to become better acquainted with the heads of departments, academic staff, and academic group advisers, as well as to learn more about the specific features of their chosen educational programmes, the organisation of the educational process, and the opportunities available for their professional development.

We sincerely congratulate our first-year students on the beginning of this exciting new chapter in their lives! May the years of study at the Faculty of Economics and Management become a time of professional growth, personal development, bold ideas, significant achievements, and unforgettable student experiences!
