SUCCESSFUL PHD DISSERTATION DEFENSE BY IHOR OKHRIMENKO IN SPECIALTY 161 “CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGIES AND ENGINEERING”

On September 4, 2026, Ihor OKHRIMENKO, a PhD student of the department of chemical technologies and resource conservation at Кyiv national university of technologies and design, successfully defended his dissertation for the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD) in specialty 161 “Chemical Technologies and Engineering.”

Under the supervision of doctor of technical sciences, professor, professor at the department of industrial pharmacy Olena ISHCHENKO, Ihor OKHRIMENKO successfully completed and defended his dissertation entitled “Development of hydrogel materials based on hyaluronic acid as carriers of active pharmaceutical ingredients”.

The dissertation defense was held before the one-time specialized academic council PhD 16211, which included:

Chair of the Council – Olha HARANINA, doctor of technical sciences, professor, head of the department of fashion technology, Kyiv national university of technologies and design;

Reviewers – Halyna KUZMINA, candidate of chemical sciences, associate professor, associate professor at the department of industrial pharmacy, Kyiv national university of technologies and design; Olena ROIK, candidate of pharmaceutical sciences, associate professor, associate professor at the department of industrial pharmacy, Kyiv national university of technologies and design;

Opponents – Oleksandr HRYTSENKO, doctor of technical sciences, professor at the department of chemical technologies for plastics processing, National university Lviv polytechnic; Iryna KULISH, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor, head of the postgraduate studies department, Kherson national technical university.

The dissertation of Ihor OKHRIMENKO focuses on establishing the patterns governing the influence of hyaluronic acid of different molecular weights on the structure and properties of polymeric hydrogel systems, as well as on developing a technology for hydrogel materials intended for the controlled and prolonged release of lidocaine hydrochloride.

The study established the relationships between the molecular weight and concentration of hyaluronic acid and the structural and functional properties of hydrogel systems. The developed hydrogel materials are considered promising polymeric systems for the controlled release of active pharmaceutical ingredients, including lidocaine hydrochloride.

The members of the one-time specialized academic council noted that Ihor OKHRIMENKO’s dissertation, in terms of its relevance, scientific novelty, formulation and approach to solving the research objectives, theoretical and practical foundations, and validity of the obtained results, meets the requirements of Specialty 161 “Chemical Technologies and Engineering” and the requirements of Resolution № 44 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated January 12, 2022, “On approval of the procedure for awarding the degree of doctor of philosophy and annulment of the decision of a one-time specialized academic council of a higher education institution or research institution on awarding the degree of doctor of philosophy.”

We sincerely thank the members of the one-time specialized academic council for their high level of professionalism, objective evaluation of the dissertation, and high scientific assessment of the research.

Congratulations to Ihor OKHRIMENKO and his academic supervisor, Olena ISHCHENKO, on this significant achievement!

We wish Ihor OKHRIMENKO inexhaustible inspiration, new scientific achievements, professional growth, successful implementation of innovative ideas and promising research projects.
