KNUTD AT UKRAINIAN FASHION WEEK 2026
Students of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design took part in the events of the 59th season of Ukrainian Fashion Week SS27, which brought together Ukrainian designers, emerging brands, fashion industry professionals, and a new generation of Ukrainian fashion creators in Kyiv.
This season was particularly special for KNUTD students: they presented their own work on the runway, participated in a competition for young designers, and joined the Ukrainian Fashion Week volunteer team, working backstage at the shows and gaining valuable hands-on experience in the fashion industry.

KNUTD Student Presents Her Collection in the New Names Programme
On September 6, as part of Ukrainian Fashion Week SS27, the New Names programme held a runway show aimed at supporting and showcasing a new generation of Ukrainian designers.
Five emerging brands presented their debut collections on one of the country’s leading fashion platforms. Among the participants was Yelyzaveta Malynovska, a student of the KNUTD Faculty of Design.

Participation in New Names gave the young designer an opportunity to present her creative vision to fashion industry professionals and a wider audience.
The new generation of Ukrainian fashion designers boldly experiments with forms and textures, searches for its own design language, and addresses important issues through clothing. Every runway appearance is the result of extensive work on the concept, silhouettes, materials, details, and the overall vision of a collection.
The curator and show director for Yelyzaveta Malynovska’s presentation was fashion stylist Kyrylo Savchenko.
“Look into the Future” 2026: KNUTD Among Young Designers
Another important event of the season was the 27th All-Ukrainian Young Fashion Designers Competition “Look into the Future”, in which Alina Mazur, a student of the KNUTD Faculty of Design, took part.
This year’s competition was held under the theme “New Forms of Reality”, encouraging young designers to rethink contemporary life, social transformations, and the future of fashion through original imagery and innovative design solutions.
“Look into the Future” serves as a platform for young designers to launch their professional careers, present their ideas to fashion industry professionals, demonstrate their individual style, and take the next step in their professional development. Alina Mazur’s participation in the competition was another opportunity to showcase the KNUTD school of design within the Ukrainian Fashion Week programme.

From the Runway to Backstage: KNUTD Students Join the Ukrainian Fashion Week Team
KNUTD students also joined the UFW team as volunteers and worked backstage during the shows. The team included:
Nadiia Kalchuk, Sofiia Kachmar, Iryna Zhyvodenko, Veronika Kolodiazhna, Velena Myroshnychenko, Yelyzaveta Boretska, Diana Kukhar, Yevhenii Kenzir, Olha Havryliak, Oleksandra Saiko, and Kateryna Dodenko.

Working backstage at a major fashion event provides an opportunity to experience the industry from the inside – from preparing models and collections to coordinating runway appearances and seeing how a large professional team works together to deliver a fashion show.
For students, this is above all valuable hands-on professional experience, an introduction to real-life fashion industry processes, an opportunity to build new professional connections, and a chance to work alongside designers, stylists, models, and other industry professionals.
KNUTD students’ participation in Ukrainian Fashion Week demonstrates the diverse paths available to future professionals – from creating their own collections and making their first appearance on a major runway to participating in professional competitions and gaining practical backstage experience at fashion events.
For the University, it is essential that education is closely connected with real-world practice and that students, while still pursuing their degrees, have opportunities to become part of the professional community, present their creative projects, and gain hands-on experience directly within the industry.
We are proud of our students, their creativity, courage, and determination to contribute to the development of contemporary Ukrainian fashion!
