A SERIES OF ACADEMIC INTEGRITY MEETINGS FOR STAFF WAS HELD AT KNUTD
A series of informational meetings on academic integrity for academic and teaching staff was held at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
The meetings took place on 21-25 September 2026 in the form of thematic presentations and discussions within the meetings of the Academic and Methodological Councils of KNUTD faculties. The events were organised by the Centre for Quality Management of Educational Activities of KNUTD as part of the University’s systematic efforts to foster a culture of academic integrity and ensure the quality of educational and research activities. This format made it possible to involve academic and teaching staff from different structural units of the University and to discuss relevant issues directly within the professional community.
The lectures focused primarily on adherence to the principles of academic integrity in teaching, research and organisational activities. The participants discussed the main types of academic integrity violations, including academic plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication and falsification of research results, biased assessment, improper assistance to students, and other practices that contradict the principles of academic ethics.
A separate section was devoted to the responsibility of academic and teaching staff when assessing learning outcomes, conducting assessment activities and entrance examinations, as well as organising competitions and student olympiads.
Considerable attention was paid to current challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence systems. The participants discussed appropriate ways of using such tools in educational and research activities, the need to transparently disclose the tools used, the importance of maintaining authors’ responsibility for the content of materials, and the prevention of replacing independent research or teaching and methodological work with automatically generated content.
The meetings also covered procedures for responding to possible violations of academic integrity and the types of responsibility stipulated by the University’s internal regulations and the legislation of Ukraine.
Such events contribute to developing a shared understanding of academic integrity as an integral component of high-quality education, responsible teaching and reliable research activity.
