PARTICIPATION OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AND CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION IN THE PROJECT “SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS PROGRAMS AT UKRAINIAN UNIVERSITIES – PROMOTING THE MENTAL WELL-BEING OF YOUTH”

On October 13, 2026, a regular training session was held on the topic “Values – The Core of Resilience. Resilient Action” as part of the course “Fundamentals of Psychological Resilience.” The training was organized as part of the project “Supporting the Development of Mental Health Programs at Ukrainian Universities – Promoting the Mental Well-Being of Youth,” implemented by the “Family Circle” Charitable Foundation in collaboration with the Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Catholic University, with support from Americares. Alla Kolodyazhna, Ph.D. in Psychology and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and Continuing Professional Education, led the course.

The session focused primarily on the role of personal values in developing psychological resilience, their influence on life decisions and behavior, and a person’s ability to overcome difficult circumstances. Values were examined as internal guides that help maintain a sense of meaning, set priorities, and choose constructive ways to respond to life’s challenges.

An important aspect of the training was the concept of resilient action – conscious behavior grounded in personal values that helps overcome difficulties while also ensuring the restoration of one’s own resources.

Particular attention is paid to understanding that psychological resilience does not mean the absence of stress or negative emotions. It manifests itself in a person’s ability to stay true to their own values, make well-considered decisions, and act in accordance with them even in the face of uncertainty.

Participation in the training program helps deepen instructors’ professional competencies, master modern, scientifically grounded approaches to developing psychological resilience, and integrate mental health support practices into the university’s educational environment.

The knowledge and practical tools gained are of particular importance for training future psychologists, developing their professional competence, and equipping them with the ability to provide psychological support to people in the face of contemporary societal challenges.
