LECTURE BY A VISITING LECTURER FROM BIRMINGHAM CITY UNIVERSITY (UK) FOR STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF DESIGN
On October 8, 2026, as part of Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week and Design Week at KNUTD, a lecture was held by Kateryna Chrichlow, visiting lecturer at Birmingham City University, a designer, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA, UK), titled “POSSIBILITIES FOR USING MODERN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SOFTWARE IN DESIGN.”

The lecture was attended by lecturers and students from the Faculty of Design, representing of the educational programs "Graphic Design", "Multimedia Design", "Environmental Design", "Fashion Design" and "Design (by types)" at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels, as well as PhD students from the doctoral program "Design". Also present were attendees of the Ukrainian Design and Innovation Week, along with students and lecturers from Khmelnytskyi National University, the Odesa Technical Vocational College of ONTU, and other educational institutions across Ukraine.
Kateryna Chrichlow outlined the potential of modern artificial intelligence programs, which are currently being actively integrated into fields such as advertising, fashion, architecture, multimedia, and the gaming industry.

The lecture attendees explored the practical applications of AI in design, focusing on tools for generating and editing text, images, and videos. The practical segment of the presentation showcased examples using programs such as lookfashion.ai, TheNewBlack, newarc.ai, Midjourney, DALL·E, OpenAI, Rodin, HeyGen, Sora, and others.
The speaker introduced the audience to the methodology used at Birmingham City University for integrating AI tools into the education of students in creative disciplines. She explained that a six-level framework has been established to define the extent to which AI tools may be used, depending on the specific subject being studied. Additionally, there is a clear requirement for students to disclose which AI tools were employed in the creation of their work.

The lecture sparked keen interest among the participants, prompting discussion and insightful questions from both lecturers and students.

Many thanks to Ms. Kateryna Chrichlow for an interesting and insightful lecture!
