Programme developed under the auspices of the Flemish project: «NeTTex-Flemish-Ukrainian Networking and Training in Textiles»

In October of 2005 Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design became a member of AUTEX (Association of Universities for Textiles) — world-wide interdisciplinary organization that unites universities with settled international reputation in education and researches of «textile direction», in other words they train students to work in textile industry and clothing technology.

As AUTEX leaders say, one of main tasks of Association is to increase the level of «textile» education, to organize and disseminate up-to-date level courses in innovative textile technologies among Association member-universities.

In the 1st of April 2007 Government of Flanders adopted NeTTex «Flemish-Ukrainian Networking and Training in Textiles», and our University has taken it into execution. Victoria Vlasenko, Chief of Synthetic Fibre Research Laboratory, has been appointed as a project manager.

The results of the project are to be: encouragement of implementation of educational European concept in university educational system and establishment of Technology Transfer Centre to use modern European technologies at enterprises of Ukrainian light (textile and clothing) industry and to acquaint university partners with KNUTD research results.

The project partners are: from Belgian party — Ghent University; from Ukrainian party — main partner is KNUTD, Association of Light Industry Enterprises — the first partner, Ukrainian Science and Research Institute of Textile Industry — the second partner.

NeTTex project objectives:

         In training:

  • To widen co-operation between KNUTD and Ghent University, and, through AUTEX, with other universities; to organize exchange programmes for students, teachers, courses, seminars.
  • To encourage education system reform in KNUTD on the base of approaching to EU standards and EU practice using means that give possibility to satisfy Bologna Declaration requirements.

         In light industry technologies:

  • To establish Technology Transfer Centre in KNUTD; to develop enduring co-operation with Ukrainian enterprises.
  • To organize training courses on quality management, to study EU standards in textiles and international standards in testing, to help Ukrainian textile industry to implement EU-standards for improving product quality and export possibilities of Ukrainian enterprises.
  • To establish contacts between Ukrainian enterprises and textile and clothing industry of Belgium.

In November 2007 a project seminar took place in KNUTD. One of teachers from Ghent University has given scheduled lectures.

In February 2008 (19-20.02) international scientific and educational seminar will take place in KNUTD. Participants are representatives of Belgian enterprises, Embassy of Belgium in Ukraine, Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, representatives of Ukrainian textile enterprises.

Having taken this project into execution, our University leaders are sure that experience gained in the project will allow our higher educational institution to correspond with European level of specialist training for all brunches of light industry.
